Civil Records for both Protestant & Catholic began in 1864.  However, about 1845, Civil marriage records for Protestants only started       Civil birth records after 1864 carried a penalty if not complied with.  Therefore, for the first few years, the dates for Catholics may not be EXACTLY correct.  There was a distrust of the English government and being poor, to avoid a fine they could not afford, the dates were recorded which eliminated the penalty. Marriages & deaths post 1864 did not initially carry a penalty.  I was told by another researcher on the IRELAND roots list, that within a decade there were penalties attached to marriages & deaths also.       Pre 1864 one must seek sacramental records.  Many of these have been lost over the the years but many do exist.  Most start about 1800 t0 1815, depending on the particular church. For a fee, you could try Wexford Heritage.  We were fortunate to obtain the records for Rathangan Parish which was put on line at the IGP website.  Also, the grave sites for the cemetery at Duncormick.  This particular church which is now Catholic, changed denominations as historical events transpired.  We have only those stones which were readable.  There were many broken stones behind the church which people have been trying to repair and replace..
