Cara, sorry, didn't get to message in a timely manner. Edward Patrick Flaherty B: 16 May 1844 was located on a number of US Census records in San Francisco, CA and Portland, OR Census, bot places he and my Gt Grandmother ( Mary Ahern ) Flaherty live.. One census listed a different year 1849, but since other census listed the year 1844 and also my family records also show 1844. Thats why I am pretty certain that year is the correct birth year. Every Census record here in US just showed Co Wexford as place of birth, nothing else. Family talked about the Flaherty's living on a place called Morgan's Hill a manor house they inherited. -- "cheers" Sharon from mountains of Idaho

Morgan & Mary inherited a manor home on a place called Morgan's Hill. left to eldest son, (gt grandfather) never returned to claim inheritence. Records not available online for Co Wexford. Flaherty's in Kilmore have helped a lot, but can't find ANY record of MY Flaherty's Would appreciate any help. -- "cheers" Sharon from mountains of Idaho
The 1911 census for Wexford is online go to http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/ I put in Murphy then Michael then Wexford and age 3. I found 2 with father Thomas and age 2 which would work since the census was abt April I think. Another was 4. See if any meet what you know. Thank you very much Cara, as usual you are a font of information. I do remember that you were going to be in that area on one of your more recent trips, and would appreciate your checking your notes for any Sinnott or variation headstones that you obtained then. My Sinnott's were back and forth between Castletown and Arklow James Sinnott my 4Ggrandfather b. 1737 in Castletown was married in Arklow 17 Jan. 1762 to Ann Conner, their three children Pierre/Pierce,Mary and John were all Christened. there in 1763,1766 and 1775. Thanks peter Under normal circumstances most families would have some records but as my family is estranged, and most of them are now deceased I am having to rely on my memory> I will try to contact a distant cousin who said he was able to get the marriage certificate but the only contact I have with him in through ancestry.com and he hasnt logged in for months. Up until recently we didnt know each other existed, so it has been exciting to find a long lost relative. I will keep trying. Debi, It's not that hard from Australia provided records are available. And that's the problem with Wexford - not a lot online. I tried Irish Family History Foundation and the NEW Family Search site FSBeta, but nothing there. I'd be surprised if there is not more in family papers. Because it's in the last 75 years, somebody should have a marriage certificate, death certificate, immigration papers, family bible or other papers that should have clues to exact locations in Wexford. After taking time to assess this request and check some things out for Sharon, I now have come to the conclusion that perhaps when they recalled Morgan's Hill ( which even my friend in Wexford knows not of ) they were perhaps generalising in as much as they would say oh he lives on Morgans Hill, meaning that perhaps many of that family name had lived on that hill for a period of time and hence the Irish had referred to it as Morgans Hill. Where did you locate his birth date Sharon? from what document were you able to glean such a correct date. Co Wexford is an awful big county when looking for a family member, but please dont lose heart in your search, because my questions are only to further or at least broaden you searching techniques Yours Cara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharon Hiner" <sharon.hiner@gmail.com> To: <irl-wexford@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 06, 2010 5:33 AM Subject: [IRL-WEXFORD] Flaherty > HELP, I've been up against a brick wall for way to long. Hi Peggy: There you go adding to the dilemma, It makes perfect sense to me, but all the entries that I have found were generally list under the "female" heading ? like male and female sponsors to the baptism and in the other three case as parents, i.e. husband and wife. but I do like your thinking ( outside of the box ) which can be very helpful in genealogy when searching phonetic names etc. Edd,......... legally Edward ----- Original Message ----- From: <PeggyLeonard112@aol.com> To: <irl-wexford@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 14, 2010 3:00 PM Subject: Re: [IRL-WEXFORD] IRL-WEXFORD Digest, ANTY > Anty is also short for Anthony. > > My two cents, > Peg (short for Peggy) lol > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > IRL-WEXFORD-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. Thank you to Douglas, Eileen O'L, John G.K. , Julie D, and of course Cara Y'all have given me lots to think about and figure out location wise, so once I have plotted this out, I will get back to further explore my ancestry with the Sinnott's and Carty, Connor and Kincade links >From previous exchanges I knew that Gorey/Castletown were up in the northern end of Co. Still looking for info on Alice Thompson b 1820-1825 later censii just say Wexford. Her father was Nathaniel a Bookmaker, she had an illegit child with James Hoare( b around 1805 in Cork) in Dublin Dec 28th 1847. Child named James, later christened in 1861 John James Hoare in Liverpool. Their family was Protestant in 1860s and James Hoare came from a Protestant family. She and James Hoare finally married in 1872 in Liverpool(had he been married previously and his wife was now dead??) where they lived from at least 1861 census. A Nathaniel Thompson is mentioned as being a church warden in 1807 in the vestry Book of St Mogue's Church, Ballycanew (5 miles S of Gorey).. could this be a lead? In 1870 a list of property owners in Wexford list the representatives of Nathaniel Thompson deceased (sadly no address given) held 1 acre Does this fit in with anyone's Thompson Family research? Is anyone missing an Alice Thompson b around this time? Help! jane
Morning Edd, The Scar you are looking for is “Scarnagh” (Lower or Upper) It is on the N11 between Inch and Arklow, but would be in the parish of Castletown. The only other “Scar” in county Wexford is in the Parish of Duncormick which is extreme south of the county.
