I haven't been following this discussion too closely, but I have these Woodbyrne sponsors for one of my Tighe baptisms, if that's helpful: Elizabeth Tighe, B: 23 Mar 1794 in Kilanerin RC parish, Co. Wexford, Ireland. d/o Murtha Tighe and Elizabeth ? of Annagh, Co. 3. Hi Mary, Excellent idea. However, I am beginning my Ireland research on my Sinnott / Sinnett / Senet and have no clue as to the parish or township they may have come from in Co. Wexford. Family hear say is that the Sinnott owned a "Pub or Grocery Store" in Ireland. Somewhere along the family line it has come down to Co. Wexford. They were found as a family on the 1860 Patterson Depot, Frankford County, VA census. 1860 Census, 11-2-1880, Western District, Hampshire, Virginia, PO - Patterson Depot Salt Lake City, 1-8-2005 Dwelling 6, Family 6 Michael Sinnett, 46, Laborer, $0 RC, $100 Personal, Ireland Mary A. Sinnett, 48, VA Norman Nash, 22, Laborer, MD Jeremiah Monett, 18, Laborer, MD Michael Sinnett, 18, MD Mary A. Sinnett, 6, MD Elizabeth C. 3. I thought you might find this interesting. This is how I do a lot of genealogy research, posting to the various rootsweb list servs for the county/country in question. It is amazing how much information I have found this way. Plus I have connected with five cousins, four second cousins, this way! It is how I found my Krebs village in France! Edward and Mary? Galvin, are my gg grandparents on my maternal grandmother's side. Elizabeth is my great grandmother. They were very poor Irish emigrants. Elizabeth's occupation was an Irish classic, a washer woman! Her sister was a servant until she died of TB. A very common cause of death back in the 1800's! Elizabeth died at age 42 when my grandmother was 11, and her father gave her to another Irish family to raise. She worked in their shoe factor at age 11 on! She was a very small woman and smoked Camels! A very feisty person! What I would not give to be able to talk to her now! inquiring minds want to know - Bob > Message: 2 > Date: Sun, 02 Jan 2011 13:26:31 -0500 > From: Bob Krebs<rnkrebs@wcnet.org> > Subject: [IRL-WEXFORD] GALAVAN - New Ross > To: IRL-WEXFORD@rootsweb.com > Message-ID:<4D20C357.8040201@wcnet.org> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed > > > I'm trying to find the GALAVAN family of New Ross. Book does not have any other spellings of sin not etc. Kathleen Sent from my iPad On Dec 31, 2010, at 10:09 AM, patrobison@aol.com wrote: > I am looking for some Sinnett / Sinnott's that came from Co. I found a death certificate which I guess could be the one Michael Sinnott I am looking for which states his parents were James & Mary Senet from Ireland. Thus I could assume that James, Mary and Michael were born in Ireland. Would like to locate this family in Ireland, birth records, siblings, etc. Next would be to find out when Michael immigrated? Alone? With his parents? Was he previously married? Maybe in Ireland? Two children were listed in the 1860 census Michael 16 and Mary 6 which gives the idea that he may have been previously married and his first child Michael had a different mother. > > Any help? The burial records of both Elizabeth and Ellen list New Ross, County Wexford, as the birthplace. They first show in the 1860 USA Census in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have found the name spelled as Galavan, Galavin, Galvin and Galvan, in the USA. I have checked all the civil and church records in the Cincinnati and Hamilton County area. Do parent names appear on marriage or death certificates? Before looking for her birth around 1808, I wonder can anybody recommend a good site for Wexford BDM data pre 1864.
