Barbara, I tried to input Tittel in many web sites that pertain to locating coat of arms. According to Irish and German sites I could find nothing. My thought is, could Tittel be an abbreviated name for another name. Perhaps it was shortened. I think that you need to talk with a German Genealogist about the name and origin of where it came from. Have you thought of listing your problem to a German Rootsweb site to see if someone can help you? Mary Ellen ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Hello all I know this site is for Irish research however I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. I am researching the TITTEL family from Marktschorgast, Bavaria, Germany. I know that the coat of arms exists as I have an extremely bad copy of it. I think it's a copy of a copy of a copy etc in other words not great. The family member who gave it to me has absolutely no idea where his mother got it from and unfortunately she is now deceased. So my question is this: does anyone know a site where I can find this coat of arms. I have done the google thing and can't seem to come up with anything other than Irish, English, Scottish and French coat of arms. Would anyone be researching the Tittel clan from this area? Thanks for any help you can send my way Barbara-Ann

Ed Roche is known around the world for his realist paintings of Newfoundland. A man with strong Irish roots, his family has always held a bit of a mystery about its past. Travel with him to the home country as he searches for long lost family, and paints the countryside of his ancestors. http://www.cbc.ca/countrycanada/video.html You have to download Quicktime and install it first. It's free, but not a favourite of mine.... Jim
Searching for information about the townland and family of my GGGrandparents, Peter Doyle (1811-1886)and Johannah___?(1812-1875) Her tombstone says "Fern Parish". I believe his parents were Lawrence Doyle and Mary Kehoe. They preceded Peter to Canada about 1839 with their other children James, Bridget(Brady), John L., Mary Ann (Finn), Owen and Margaret (McCart & Reaume). Peter and Johanna emigrated to Canada about 1853. Their older children James, Mary (b.1840), Lawrence, Peter, and Joanna were born in or near "Inniscorthy" per tombstone. My GGrandfather Bartholomew, was born Mar. 20, 1853 near Chatham, Ont. Ca. The two youngest children Owen P and John were born in Illinois. After Johanna"s death, Peter married a Bridget Kehoe from Jo Daviess County, born in Ireland. It would be valuable to learn Johanna's maiden name. <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone. There are about 50 to 60 links at this site from language translation to archaic medical terminaology that might be of interest to some list members. Nancy, I was reading your request for census information in Ireland. I have a subscription to Ancestry.com, but it is only for the USA. In fact, I have little knowledge of how far back one can go with Ancestry. Can anyone tell me when they started taking census information in Ireland? What can you get with their records? Does anyone know what dates of information are available with Ancestry? Thanks, Mary Ellen <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone. Hello, I wish to examine the 1901 census for the above townland. In 1911 the LDS catalogue notes the following:1911 Forth D.E.D. 113/3-8 Townlands: Ballintlea, Cools, Coolstuff, Garradreen, Growtown Lower, Growtown Upper. Would the DED be the same in 1901 as it was in 1911 (hopefully)? I've googled what seems to be conflicting information re the townlands' PLU and could not locate the RC parish...ANY information greatly appreciated. Hi Mary, The 1901 census is on-line for some counties but not unfortunately Kerry. See http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census/ I looked up the Kerry records in the Tralee Library and in the Dublin National Archives. The good news is that they are intending to put them on-line but who knows how long that will take. "The National Archives of Ireland has arranged for the digitisation, indexing and contextualisation of its most popular records, the census records for 1901 and 1911. The resulting website will contain images of the forms for each household and institution, which will be indexed by name (all names), townland/street, age and sex. The site will be free to access, with no charge to use the indexes or view the images. The first phase of the project, Dublin City and County 1911, is to be launched in Autumn 2007." http://www.nationalarchives.ie/contactus/census.html I found the Tralee Library staff really helpful Yes wasn't the match just fantastic! 'Go Ireland for the Six Nations' Regards Anne Searching for SLATTERY in Abbeydorney, Ardfert and Kilflyn, O'DONNELL in Slieve and Glanmore, O'CONNELL in Deerpark Lixnaw and GAUGHAN, LOFTUS, REILLY, NOONE in Gladree Mayo >Can anybody tell me if there is any accessibility on-line for looking >up information on the 1901 and 1911 census? There are some 1901 census info online. Some counties are complete Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, Sligo. Some are partially done. I was doing Wexford and have about 1/3 online. This work is being done by one man in Baltimore Maryland. I spoke to him recently and he is currently doing Kerry. I just checked and he has 340 households currently on line and adds more each week. This is tme consuming but if only everyone could do one reel... Ok only dreaming. Go to http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census/ Many Sullivans. Good luck. I found this on-line: http://www.dast.gov.ie/culture/projects_funded.html Not much information in it, but there is quite a lot on the Library and Archives Canada website at: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/ireland/021019-1400-e.html What great news, I have so many missing people in the census! Vicki, I have just read in detail the report and that is great news. It looks like the website will go live in the Autumn of this year with access to Dublin and, hopefully be completed for the whole of Ireland and available on line by mid-2009. So, at long last it will be easier to make breakthroughs in Irish genealogy. I can't wait for the Dublin returns to be on-line - hopefully that is where I will find my grandmother and her sister as they were not in their home town in co. Wexford when the 1911 census took place and I believe they went to Dublin for work. I for one can't wait till!! Rose Epsom Downs/UK
Hi Vicki, I'm glad you found the details. I knew I had seen something somewhere. Thanks for your efforts. Rose Epsom Downs/UK
I remember back sometime last year reading in one of the genealogy magazines that there was a project to put both 1901 and 1911 Ireland census on line but I haven't any more details. I believe it was in conjunction with the Irish Government and a Canadian site but can't remember the details. Can anyone else on the list through any light on this? Rose Epsom Downs/UK
