Kane is not a frequent name I have run across in the Moate area prior to 1835---which is the research area I spend most of my time in. I have seen the name in various RC Church registers but I don't remember which ones. Be sure to list your ancestor with Colette who has agreed to post info for Westmeath researchers once a month beginning in March so that all of us can have a handy list to carry with us when we view documents in case we run across something that someone else is looking for.
