--Hello Westmeath Listers. Just recently subscribed and have an interest in tracing the birth of my grandad Martin Hoath who was born at Athlone in 1879. His dad was also Martin Hoath who was discharged from the army in 1879 at Athlone suffering from TB, he died before 1881. I havn't found any records of the birth of my grandad in the index of bdm and this leaves me with the church records. Perhaps someone could advise me on the church records of Athlone and how to go about accessing them. I am 90% sure they were Cof I. Cheers from sunny Australia. Bernard Carroll.
Hi Bernard My family were in Ireland in 19th century. My GGGgrandfather was born in Athlone. I have looked through some records with quite a bit of success. They belonged to Church of Ireland, St Marys Parish, Athlone. Can I suggest you search the 'familysearch.org' website, or contact your nearest Church of Latter Day Saints.
