Don't waste your time on the Ellis Island site if your Irish came to America before 1892. Remeber Ellis island didn';t exit until then. Most early immigrants came via Castle Garden and will be found on the passenger lists found at the national Archives or LDS Library. All you need is an good date of arrival and get the film and spend several hours looki ng. Usually rewarded with the find. Remember only look at the ships departing from England or Ireland and skip the many others from all parts of the world..so that cuts the time. Charlotte Smith
