Dear Sandy, Let's see whether we might find something here. My g-g-grandmother was Catherine Gibney, b. 1841 in/around Castlepollard. She married James McCann in 1859 there and had one son, Patrick Joseph, b. 1860, before immigrating in 1863 or 1864 to Chicago via New York. I don't know how long they stayed in New York because their next child was born there (possibly on board the ship). In any case, they were in Chicago by 1865. I have no more info on James. Catherine's parents were Brian Gibney (d. before 1854) and Bridget Ledwidge Gibney (d. after 1854). Catherine had two siblings whom I know of, a brother Patrick (b. circa 1837) and a sister Anna (b. May 5, 1844). I know of no McCormicks in the family and no Margaret Gibney old enough to have had the children you mention, but perhaps you do or someone reading this can make a connection.
