    1. [Irl-Westmeath] Flanagan and Igo
    2. Hi Everyone I have been doing genealogy for a while now, and have had moderate success with most of my lines. But my paternal grandfather's family has remained a total mystery to me. So I am hoping that someone out theree will be able to help me. William Flanagan came from County Westmeath to Australia, sometime in the 1880s. I cannot find his immigration record, so I do not know where or when he came into the country, but I was always told that he came alone. William was born c1854 to Nicholas Flanagan and Rose Igo. I know that he had 2 or 3 brothers or sisters, but I cannot be more specific. There are a Michael and an Edward Flanigan mentioned in the Tithe Applotment Books living in the townland of Kilkenny. There are a Nicholas and an Edward in the parish of Kilkenny West in the Griffiths Index. Given that my father's name was Edward Nicholas, this gives me hope that I am in the right area. There are Igo family scattered around Westmeath, according to the Griffiths Index, with a number in the parish of Noughavel, near Kilkenny. From these few clues, I have decided to search this area around Glasson for my family. Would anyone have any suggestions to help me? Would I be best to write/email the local library or the local RC church? Thanks, from Clare in Victoria, Australia.
