Wow! Thanks to all for responding! What a helpful group. One of my Garveys married a Carney shortly after coming to the U.S. Does anyone know where the Carney name is prevalent? Also, since I have you attention... I am wondering about Co. Meath and Co. West Meath. Were they at one time a single county? Maybe I should be looking for my Garveys in the Western area of Co. Meath? Thanks to all. Theresa from Northern Wisconsin.....where Spring seems to have sprung. 50 degrees and sunny! -----Original Message----- From: John Kelly <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, March 21, 2001 11:17 AM Subject: Re: [Irl-Westmeath] Garvey Family > >--- [email protected] wrote: >> Hi Theresa, >> I don't know if this will help or not but I >> have an Elizabeth Doyle >> born to Tom Doyle and Biddy Garvey on May 19, 1841. >> This is from the Taghmon >> Parish register 1781-1906. >> I also have a Mathew Murtagh who married Mary >> Garvey Aug 16, 1835 and >> this is from the Coole Parish records. >> Does anyone know what the name Biddy stands >> for? >> Sincerely, >> Jane >> >Hi, Jane > >How about Bridget for Biddy. Hi Theresa, My GGMA was a KEARNEY / CARNEY and she was born in the westernmost part of Co Meath and married a man just over the border living at the easternmost part of Co. Westmeath. The parishes were Killaconnigan and Killucan. There were several other CARNEY families in Killaconnigan [ now known as Ballivor ] Regards .... Michael ----- Original Message ----- From: "T.
