Hello, I joined this list shortly after I found a reference to KILCASH as a surname not in Sligo (as I had been told the name might be limited to) but in Westmeath. A John and William Kilcash are listed in the 1796 Flaxgrowers Growers List. John had one loom/wheel in Parish Rathgorrow and William had another in St. Mary's. My relative AUGUSTUS KILCASH appears on a Loyalist Forces Muster Roll in the colonies in 1780. I have had trouble finding his origins beyond a general reference that KILCASH or McGiolla Chaise is an Irish name. John and William are my first links to the KILCASH surname being used in a specific place. I am hoping, by tracing this name, I might find a reference to Augustus, his branch, and how he came to the US. Is anyone on the list familiar with the KILCASH name? Thanks! Holly Gillcash (Gillcash=modern equivalent)
