I would sugget you check www.local.ie and then go to the Westmeath site and check out the Church records-Protestant church for the townland and then you should check the birth records. Remember Ireland has them after 1864 and then also the 1911 census. The LDS Mormon libraries has some of these if one is available near y ou. ----- Original Message ----- From: Spencer Allen <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 25, 2001 10:19 AM Subject: [Irl-Westmeath] Young Family Athlone > Hi List, > I'm trying to find where my G. grandfather was born. > I have his DOB as 18/7/1880 (from family Bible) > He married Annie Aris in Coventry 5/2/1906 > George's father was Charles Young > > I know my grandmother was baptised (Kathleen) > at the Presbyterian Church of Athlone on 14/5/1912. > George & Annie Young were living 12, High St, Athlone > in 1914. > In 1917 it was 8 High St. along with a Mr Hanlon. > > Can anyone local tell me if the Church is still there? > Would the High St. addresses still be there as houses? > Where do i look for a baptism for George, or who do i contact > to search for me, as i can't get to Ireland > Is the surname YOUNG a 'local' name? > > Thanks for your time, Angela Allen. > > > > ============================== > Shop Ancestry - Everything you need to Discover, Preserve & Celebrate > your heritage! > http://shop.myfamily.com/ancestrycatalog >
