Jane - I'm not sure yet how the 1911 index is set up, but I do know it is not by name. We all know how gaps occur in census indices for whatever reason, and it is immensely helpful to look through the whole townland for other related names and to see who the close neighbors were. If you access www.family search.com and then click on the library catalog, you will be able to see just what the Mormons have filmed by county and then by townland in many cases. It is an eye opener, and I found a film containing exerpts from newspapers in the Athlone area, indexed by name, which contains not only news of a genealogical nature, but also many articles giving a look into life in the past. If I come across it in my records, I'll let you know, or you can look for it on the family search site. Marybeth
