Charlotte, Thanks very much for looking for me. Betsy
Wow! Thanks to all for responding! What a helpful group. One of my Garveys married a Carney shortly after coming to the U.S. Does anyone know where the Carney name is prevalent? Also, since I have you attention... I am wondering about Co. Meath and Co. West Meath. Were they at one time a single county? Maybe I should be looking for my Garveys in the Western area of Co. Meath? Thanks to all. Have just returned from vacation and saw your generous offer. I have at least four PHILLIPS brothers who disappeared into thin air after the death of their father (died 1840s in Meath). The mother, Margaret Tighe, was from Westmeath. An obit mentions another brother was "formerly of Stonehall". Are there any Phillips or Tighe listed in the book and does it cover this time period? Hi Theresa, I don't know if this will help or not but I have an Elizabeth Doyle born to Tom Doyle and Biddy Garvey on May 19, 1841. This is from the Taghmon Parish register 1781-1906. Hi Jane, thanks for the info. It doesn't fit in yet, but I will keep it on hand. It may come into play in the future. I really appreciate your response. Thanks so much. Theresa p.s. Do you think Biddy could be short for Bridget?
Hello All, I am looking for information regarding the Garvey's of Westmeath. Any and all information would be wonderful. My ggg-grandfather was John Garvey b. June 1799 in Westmeath. He came to the U.S.A. with wife Bridget and sons John Jr. b. June 1831 and Patrick b. 1822 and a sister also named Bridget who was abandoned in Hungry Hollow, Ohio by her husband. His name was Thomas Farley of parish Donshoughlin, Co. Meath. The Family settled in Freedom, Outagamie County, Wisconsin. Many thanks, Theresa
