This is a great bit of humor (in my opinion), and to those I've forwarded it to I've usually gotten the reply that if I don't watch out, this may happen to me! I take that as a compliment though. Charlotte: Received the copies in the mail and I do thank you so very much. Will be sharing the information with all the Claffy family. Thanks again. Hi Everyone I have been doing genealogy for a while now, and have had moderate success with most of my lines. But my paternal grandfather's family has remained a total mystery to me. So I am hoping that someone out theree will be able to help me. William Flanagan came from County Westmeath to Australia, sometime in the 1880s. I cannot find his immigration record, so I do not know where or when he came into the country, but I was always told that he came alone. William was born c1854 to Nicholas Flanagan and Rose Igo. I know that he had 2 or 3 brothers or sisters, but I cannot be more specific. There are a Michael and an Edward Flanigan mentioned in the Tithe Applotment Books living in the townland of Kilkenny. There are a Nicholas and an Edward in the parish of Kilkenny West in the Griffiths Index. Given that my father's name was Edward Nicholas, this gives me hope that I am in the right area. There are Igo family scattered around Westmeath, according to the Griffiths Index, with a number in the parish of Noughavel, near Kilkenny. From these few clues, I have decided to search this area around Glasson for my family. Would anyone have any suggestions to help me? Would I be best to write/email the local library or the local RC church? Thanks, from Clare in Victoria, Australia.

Yes there are 13 families mentioned in the book, but it doesn't mention any place in Westmeath. There are from Galway, Cork, etc. Anyway I think there were many others O Connor that came here and the book doesn't mention. Dear Alberto: Thank you for your help. While Michael and James do not seem to be descendents my direct line, they might possibly be related to another branch. It will need further research (another thing to add to the "to do" list!). I would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to Alberto, Charlotte and Marybeth. By posting information about Coghlan's book and generously looking up information they have provided a valuable service to fellow researchers. I live in a small town where my access to information is limited. Not only would I never have come across this book but I would not have known about Argentina being a possible area of research regarding my ancestors. Keep up the good work, it is much appreciated! Excuse don't reply soon. I have in my family an Ellen Melady married to Patrick Lynch they lived in Moyvore are and their son James Lynch was buried in Templepatrick in 1-1-1940. But I think you are searching a surname also spelled Mulleady. Concerning this name I have a family Kelly that came from Legan in Co. Longofrd to Argentine. These two brothers Kellys came here around 1876 and lived in their aunts place living here some time ago. One of these aunts was the mother of Ricardo Mulleady a patriot that help in the war against Paraguay. (these two brother married two sisters of my ggrandmother Lynch and then returned to live in Ireland with their families) The point is that the Kellys of these families are from Legan in Co. Longfod and the Mulleady from Ardagh in Co. Longford. This inforation I took from Coghlan's Los irlandeses en la Argentina , su actuacin y descendencia. Some information is from my relative Kellys living in Glen Edgeworthtown Co. Longford. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, March 19, 2001 7:35 PM Subject: Re: [Irl-Westmeath] Melady > Alberto, > > I was wondering, if you have any one who spells the name Mulledy.
