    3. Hi. I am Jon from New York City. I am doing research on my spouses family. Her last name is MOFFATT. Her paternal grandmother was a LAMBERT. We have traced the family to westmeath through the 1901 census. EDWARD LAMBERT and LIZZIE WATERS emigrated from SLIGO to the United States in 1894 and returned to Westmeath shortly thereafter. they had (in 1901) twin daughters NORAH and CHARLOTTE, the latter is my wife's grandmother who we knew as CHRISTINE, a son JAMES and another daughter MARY K. CHARLOTTE emigrated to the United States in 1916 under the name CHRISTINA LAMBERT. Any info would be great THanks-Jon

    3. Alberto, 1. Yes, I have checked the first two sources which you mentioned. There are 18 McCann families and no way for me to know which (if any) is the correct family. Brian Gibney had apparently died by 1854 (the Griffith year), but there are two Bridget Gibney's listed. One of them is probably Bridget Ledwidge Gibney. 2. No, I have not heard of "Doon." 3. Yes, the National Archives in Dublin does have copies of these records, as does St. Michael's Church. Unfortunately, I am not going to Ireland, nor do I know anyone who is. A professional genealogist would charge me approximately $1200 US, according to one genealogist's estimate. That is something I cannot afford. -- Patrick J. 3. Alberto, Last year I went to Salt Lake City to look at the films. I was searching for church records for McCann's and Gibney's at St. Michael's Church in Castlepollard. According to the LDS personnel who were helping me, St. Michael's is one of only four churches in Co. Westmeath that were not filmed. So, I was told, I would have to go directly to that church in Castlepollard or to the National Archives in Dublin to find copies of the records. -- Patrick J. Westmeath can check for me the weddding of Nicholas ( Mac ) Cormack and Bridget Reynolds on 12 August 1840. In Ireland the wedding were in bride parish and in Carrickedmond ( Nicholas Parish) they presented the certificate mention a place Doon. It falls in Lickbla and I think it is in Castlepollar parish. 1. RE: [Irl-Westmeath] Maxwells
    2. Alberto Savaglia
    3. Hi Betty As you know I'm living in Argentina and all my mother ancestors came to live here during the famine years and later. But Maxwell is a branch of my ancestors the that remained in Ireland. Both of my great grandparent Bryan Nally and Anne Dennin came around 1868 togheher their daughters Kathleen ( then Mrs. Gaffney) and Marcella Nally. Their rest children were born after coming. Bryan ( Don Bernardo) Nally died 1-1-1900 and his dead vertificate mention being son of James Nally and Catherine Mangse (a bad spanish world for Maxwell by sound) His wife Anne Dennin Nally died in 1913 and her dead certificate mention as a daughter of John Dennin and Mary Maxwell. As you see these Maxwells never came to Argentina. And the couple provably were cousins or relatives because the same mothers surname. Other of the daughter Julia Nally ( my great grandmother ) married James Seery and they had 14 children. Two of their daughters ( Seery) died very little in companion of Mary and Katleen Maxwell. Who are these two, Maria and Catalina Maxwell? Both were daughters of Alexander Maxwell and Mary Nally ( She was Bryan 's sister). Alex and Mary Nally were pioners of Argentina and I believe they married here in Argentina, one of their first children were born here in 1853. Provably I obtain their wedding certificate ( in Lobos Pcia de Buenos Aires where they lived ) and know Alex Maxwell 's parents names. Concerning their place in Ireland I only know that my Nallys came from Irishtown Milltown ( Ballinacarrigy) Co. Westmeath and I visited Ireland in 1996 and there are some relatives Nally living there and they told me the Dennins came from Conlanstown ( not Collinstown a diferent place ) Conlanstown is a little north Irishtown. I had compiled mostly of the Maxwells of Ballimore and with some other references of this family a friend of mine sent me time ago , but again their family records start to late for me and for you too. You and me are seraching the first years of 1800' , my Bryan Nally was born in 1824 and Anne Dennin in 1839. Their mothers (Catherine and Mary Mawxwells) may be relative to your Maxwells because then must born in the begining of 1800 or late 1700. Castelpollard parish records started in 1763 I never check this parish and Milltown. This last start in 1780' and I don't know why but Mormons had not filmed it. The inmigration to Argentine is mostly of this part of Ireland and in many cases you obtain more information here in Argetine that in Ireland for example from their dead certificate you obtain the parent's names. Other source and the more important because irsh circumstances ( not early records) are the tombstones inscriptions. Concerning the Ballymore Maxwell a have a lot of information from my friend and many of them came to live here, it is incredible that as they used the same names. Hoping this help and excuse my english > > Tracing Westmeath ancestors > > Nally from Irishtown Milltown Parish > Harrison from entire Co. Westmeath > Lynch and Murray from Moyvore area > Seery from entire Co. Westmeath > Dennin and Maxwell from Miltown > Maloney from entire Co. Westmeath > Mac Cormacks from South Longford border to Co. 3. Hi Sandy I cannot help with the family you mention but thought it wouldn't hurt to let you know of part of my family who were McCormack or variables. My Grandmother's father was Thomas Reddy b. 1836 who married Elizabeth Cormack. They came from Tyrell's Pass in the Union of Mullingar and lived in a townland called Lisskelly. They produced 7 children my grandmother being Anne b.1878 who married my Grandfather Thomas Toole. I don't know if there is any connection with your Cormack but it is worth a try.
