    3. Hi To all on the list. I have recently seen some mentions of both the Waterford County Council web site and the new County Library web site on the list. It wasn't my intention to post any message on these sites as yet but seeing as some list members have observed the changes I may as well make a few comments. Firstly both of the sites are undergoing major development. The council site will have a more user friendly interface that will make it more easily read by the visually impaired and it should feature more intuitive navigation. The databases on the council site that are of interest to the genealogist are being transferred to the new County Library site. The Library site has not officially launched yet and is still being worked on (That's why I haven't posted the URL :) ) We have some load and speed issues with the server which slows the site if it gets a lot of visitors. The site will launch very shortly at which point I will e-mail the lists. I am sure everyone will be glad to hear that the java applet interface for the databases has disappeared and been replaced with something that actually works in pretty much all browsers. The County Library site will also feature search tips and a more detailed help to enable people to search the databases efficiently. Once the site launches we will be looking to the community to critique it and suggest how we can improve it. Hope this information is of some use. I will post again shortly when the sites launch with a more detailed description of the changes. 3. Willie, Thanks for telling us about this. It sounds exciting. The old site is gorgeous looking but it would be easy to miss all the Genealogical data that is there. Can't wait to see the new site! Regards, Christina North Carolina, USA On Tue, 27 May 2003 08:23:47 +0100, William Whelan wrote: Hope this information is of some use.
