I do feel these O'Donnell and Prendergasts of Cappoquin are all related. MY Gerald Prendergast was son of Thomas Prendergast and Mary (Coleman) his sister was a Kate (perhaps Betty, Thomas born circa 1860 was related to your William and Kate ) I am trying to obtain some death certificates for my o'donnells to establish parents and then obtain Waterford birth certificates..may also solicit help from heritage ctr. > Hope to connect these families in the future. Prendergast, Yes! John O'DONNELL's (my 2nd gr grandfather's) godparents were James FARRELL & Ellen PRENERGAST. While I don't know the name of the church, John was baptised 23 March 1857 in Cappoquin by a priest named R. Walsh. This information I obtained through Waterford Heritage Services. No mention of Maloney, Heffernan, Morrissey or Morissey in the baptism records for my family. The name O'Donnell is very often spelled Donnell back in those days. I think it depended on the preference of the priest recording the event. Yes there may be a connection between our families especially given the fact that my O'DONNELL's also immigrated to South Boston, Massachusetts. I wonder how many O'DONNELL and PRENDERGAST families there were in Cappoquin between 1850 and 1880.
