    1. [WATERFORD] Re: IRL-WATERFORD-D Digest V03 #7
    2. Hi Joanne, from Betty, Yes, I do remember corresponding with you, and I do think that there is a connection between Nancy, you and my husband's Prendergast family somewhere back there in the 1800's. My husband's gf and gm both came to the states in 1903 and I do know, from family lore and a legal paper ( pertaining to a will) sent from Lismore, in July of 1955, that Patrick Prendergast, my husband's gf, was sent correspondence in care of his sister Margaret Prendergast, at 100 Knollwood Road, Shorthills, New Jersey. I feel it possible if not probable that this line of Prendergasts did spread out into NY and also Chicago, IL. In the 1955 correspondence it was stated; " Margaret Prendergast, was the daughter John Prendergast, a spinster, living on Main Street, Lismore in the county of Waterford, she was predeceased by her brothers and by all of her lineal ancestors. As a results of such inquires, ( Patrick Prendergast) along with twenty-four other, have been found to be the next of kin." Amount of check was 18 pounds, six shillings and six pence. John Prendergast, her father, was a child of Kate and William Prendergast. When we were in Cappoquin in "96" we were taken by James Sweeney, at that time in his late 70's and living with his wife Betty, at Mt. Melleray Gates, up to the "Vee" and around to where we were told was the old Prendergast Place. Do to lack of time and rain we didn't get to see anything of a house, but were shown housing for cattle. At that time there were a few live stock being housed in whitewashed cement cubicles, resembling open faced sheds. Hope this isn't too confusing. Best regards, Betty
