    1. [WATERFORD] Rollcall: LAHEY, POWERS, McCARTHY
    2. Greetings Listers I am seeking the home parish of Jeremiah LAHEY, his brother, Patrick and close relatives, maybe even brothers, John and James Lahey. They may have emigrated to the US from the border area between County Waterford and County Cork. James and John were born in the early 1830s; James states on his naturalization papers that he arrived at the Port of New York, November, 1853. Patrick and Jeremiah were born in the early 1840s and emigrated to the US, (Alton, Illinois) in the early 1860s. The only thing I am sure of is they didn't enter through the port of New Orleans and mosey up the Mississippi River--there was a war going on. Next on the wishlist is the home parish of Walter POWERS and his siblings...family tradition says he came from County Waterford, but the surname Powers or Power is probably the most common in Waterford. :-( I think the siblings who migrated to the US in the 1850s were: John born 20 June, 1826 Patrick ? born 1827 Bridget ? born about 1831 Walter, born about 1833 Walter Powers wife was Ellen McCARTHY, thought to have been born March 1846. Two brothers and three sisters also lived in or near Alton, Illinois in 1907 when she died--but they are all unnamed in her obituary. All it says is she was born in County Waterford. Not a lot to go on, is there? Jane Lahey
