    3. B. Prendergast, Yes! John O'DONNELL's (my 2nd gr grandfather's) godparents were James FARRELL & Ellen PRENERGAST. While I don't know the name of the church, John was baptised 23 March 1857 in Cappoquin by a priest named R. Walsh. This information I obtained through Waterford Heritage Services. No mention of Maloney, Heffernan, Morrissey or Morissey in the baptism records for my family. The name O'Donnell is very often spelled Donnell back in those days. I think it depended on the preference of the priest recording the event. Yes there may be a connection between our families especially given the fact that my O'DONNELL's also immigrated to South Boston, Massachusetts. I wonder how many O'DONNELL and PRENDERGAST families there were in Cappoquin between 1850 and 1880.
