Hello! I was fixing some links and wanted to mention a couple of links on Irish research that might be of interest: The National Library of Ireland has some items to help with research. From this page you can download their pamphlet on Parish Registers in the National Library of Ireland - http://www.nli.ie/pdfs/famil2.pdf This is a pdf file so you will have to have Acrobat Reader loaded on your computer or you will have to download it (free) from www.adobe.com There is another pamphlet called Getting Started which may also provide some information you would like to have - http://www.nli.ie/pdfs/famil1.pdf Just this week I decided that I needed to put my scattered articles on Irish Research in a notebook for easy access. You might also find it helpful to organize your own Notebook. For my notebook I pulled some information from the Family History Library's Research Outline for Ireland. It is a very long url so you might find it easier to use the direct link I have provided on the Links Page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~irlwat2/watslinks.htm >From here you might like to print out some topics - if you don't already have the LDS Research Outline. Topics to add to your notebook might include the outline of milestone dates for Irish History and Irish Church History. If your computer's printer will print just the highlighted area, you might want to highlight the topic, leaving off the index to save on paper. You can click through the outline using NEXT TOPIC at the bottom of the page. This way you can scan for articles that might give you some ideas. Clicking though I noticed something that I was not looking for. Under Schools it showed that there is a book of alumni of Trinity College, Dublin which has been filmed. The nephew of one of my ancestors may have gone there so I want to look further at that. I never would have thought to look for it though. I think these articles will give you a brief overview of some of these research areas. I hope some of these Ireland links may be helpful. Regards, Christina
I have posted everything available on the webpage. I hope to add more whenever I find something interesting and available. I am using the LDS Family Library to find information for my webpages. I just noticed that I missed adding the 2nd page of Will Administrations (already posted to this list) to the County Waterford Genealogy (IGP) page. I went ahead and added it as page 4. There is no order to the way these wills were done except the administrations were at the end. Thought I should fess up. I will update the search engine to include this page. Just a quick update. I just finished adding the county of Waterford to the 1821 census extracts. This is not complete by any means, but it is something since these early censuses have all been lost. The url is: www.rootsweb.com/~irlwat2 Regards, Christina North Carolina, USA
These few snippets are from the 1841 census and are at the end of the 1821 census I am transcribing. They don't warrant being put online so I will just post here. I would like to be taken of the list while we go on our holls. thank you. sandra whitmore
Lorraine, Sorry you did not have any luck. Maybe your Kanary line is from outside the City. Hopefully they will turn up. It is at least an more unusual name which many would love to have. I will put the extracts from the rest of the county online in the next week or so if I can make copies. They seemed to be far less complete though. I checked and double-checked for my Kanary/Keniry family (various spellings). Still can't find them but I'll keep looking. All I have to go on is that Michael Kanary's obit from Ohio says he was born in County Waterford abt. 1838. First son is named Thomas (perhaps after his father). There may possibly be a brother named John. That's all I have to go on. Lorraine FKanary@aol.com
Just a quick update on the 1821 census. I have completed adding Waterford City to the website. I calculated that there are over 2,000 entries (including children). I will double check a few that were hard to read and also check the street names this week. Will try to get copies of the surrounding areas that were extracted, but a quick look showed that those extracts are very hit or miss. Happy to report that Rootsweb is back online. Regards, Christina North Carolina, USA
Just a reminder... As some of you may have noticed, Rootsweb is down today as they continue to upgrade/move servers. I had an email I sent one of my lists take about 48 hours so I guess we may see delays with list mail. <G> Lists fall into different areas and they work on one area at a time so you may see no mail for one list while other mail continues. I have been able to use the archives though. If you are bored without Rootsweb you can try reading various archives: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Regards, Christina North Carolina, USA
Hi... Just wanted to let the list know that I am adding some 1821 census extracts to the Co. Waterford website. I have put the extracts for the Parish of Trinity Within and Trinity Without (City of Waterford) which includes Quay and Broad St. The url is: www.rootsweb.com/~irlwat2 I have used the term Head but this is not found in the census. I just thought it made it easier to understand. Also, the person who extracted the names did not give the full info on each household. On some he only listed the name and not the family, but those are still at least as good as a tax list or City Directory. Regards, Christina North Carolina, USA
dear listers, unsubscribing for a while to catch up on other jobs. sandra
What can I do to help kay
Kay, I thought of something just as I hit send. There are wills from Kilkenny. I scanned them looking for Tipperary mentions as I found some in the Waterford wills. I didn't see any for Tipp but I do remember quickly scanning some wills. Here is what the description shows: Title Kilkenny (Ireland) : will abstracts Notes Microfilm copy of typewritten extracts (18 p.) at the Genealogical Department, Dublin, Ireland. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Will abstracts for Walsh, Purcell, Healy, Hollohan, Knock, Lewis, Jackson, Murphy, Doyle, Blake, Dowley, Fitzgerald, Kelly, Hart, and related families of County Kilkenny. Kay, I don't know about Wills but there was quite a lot of church extracts and census for Kilkenny on this Roll of film. There are also a lot of extracts for Waterford of 1821 census. ****I may try to put the census extracts online but I will need some volunteers!!**** It will be a lot to do on my own. I can copy and then scan pages. If anyone would like to see them online let me know. I will look them over this week. I think the first bit is an old census bit from the late 1700's. I may start with that if I locate it on the film. The film is such an assortment of things it is hard to find everything. Thank you Christina for all those extracts............a lot of the names mentioned also apply to families on the other side of the river in the parishes of Kilmacow and Ferrybank...........and of course your selection of wills pre-dates the baptismal records of Kilmacow 1858-1880......... I wonder if ther is a similar set for Co. Kilkenny Kay
