    3. Hoping there is someone in Waterford County, Ireland able to help me with this family. I found this monument information online and maybe someone else might connect to this family. My Jane English b. 1777 in Ireland was the daughter of Andrew English of Littlebridge, Waterford County, Ireland. Known from the marriage of Jane English to Richard Bullock July 22 1797 and witnessed by her brother, Christopher English. In 1799 Richard Bullock (with the 41st afoot regiment) came to Canada. Here is the information I have received: Monumental Inscriptions at AFFANE, Co. WATERFORD. Transcribed (AUGUST, 1949) BY THE REV. WALLACE CLARE, F.R.S.A., F.I.G.R.S. http://sites.netscape.net/joepowerjoe/AffaneGravestones.htm ENGLISH. Underneath this tomb are deposited the remains of Andrew English, Esq., late of Littlebridge, who departed this life on the 24th day of January, 1792, in the 66th year of his age. Also lieth here the body of. . . . English his wife, daughter of Richard Musgrave, Esq. late of Salterbridge. She died on the . . . day of July, 1798, aged 70 years. And the marriage record of Jane English: Christopher English of the Waterford Regiment, he declares, "that Jane English, his sister, was married in the parish church, Affane, County of Waterford, on or about the 22nd of July, 1797, to Richard Bullock, then lieutenant in his Majesty's Foot, and later a captain in said regiment, and that his said sister accompanied her husband, Captain Richard Bullock, with the 41st Regiment to Canada in 1800, where he died.." Another affidavit found among the family papers sets forth the following facts with reference to the Pioneer and his second marriage. It reads as follows: "Sir Christopher F. Musgrove of Yongal in the County of Cork, Baronet, this day made oath before me, that on or about the 22nd day of July, in the year 1797, he was present at the parish church at Affane, in the County of Waterford, at the marriage of Richard Bullock, quartermaster and lieutenant in His Majesty's Forty-first of foot and then at Cappoquin in said county, with Jane English, daughter of Andrew English, of Littlebridge in said county of Wateford." Any help would be greatly appreciated. Merriam White merriam@kc.rr.com Missouri USA

    3. Hi List My Aunt's trip to Waterford was of course wonderful and too short. In Lismore, she said the graves were quite worn and unable to yield any names. True to Irish form many helpful distant relations came out to meet them and they were able to see the homes of both the Prendergasts and the Gormans, the first was abandoned and locked (there were supposed to be pictures in the attic from our relatives who passed on in the 1960s) anyway the Gormans have one of the most beautiful houses in the area and indeed are our cousins. They promised to go to St. Carthage's and get some tombstone photos. I was so excited on the phone I forgot to ask for their # and add. All I know is that it was very close to Mount Mellerary ROLL CALL CAPPOQUIN and surrounding areas: PRENDERGAST O'DONNELL COLEMAN O'GORMAN/GORMAN McCARTHY O'ROURKE COSTELLO MORRISSON RIORDAN CLIFFORD FEENIE LYONS CLEARY REID(Y) CAHILL O'BRIEN HEALY LYNCH MacNABOLA

    3. The purpose of the Tithe Applotments was to determine the amount of "tithes" occupiers of agricultural property should pay the Church of Ireland. The people listed are going to be rural residents rather than town people. These records were created between 1823-1837. Here are the names from the Tithe Applotments from the Parish of Kilmacleague. The parish of Kilmacleage is in the Barony of Gaultiere. Date: 1826 Land name: Kilmacleague OCCUPIERS NAMES ---------------------------- Corcoran, Edmd. " " Power, Pierse " " Power, Davd. & Luke " " Dower, John Wells, James " " Morrissy, Darby " " Morrissy, Patrick " " " " Sheehan, Edmd. & Wat " " " " I will add these to the IGP Waterford Website shortly. If anyone has a parish or townland and would like to contribute them to the website - please let me know. They are arranged by parish rather than county and as there are about 149 films for the Tithe Applotments in the Family History Center Catalog - it is not something we can just order all the Waterford parishes for. They are scattered throughout. If you have copies but do not have time to transcribe them you can still send or scan them and we will get them transcribed. More Kilmacleague to come... Changing Email address for this mailing list ============================================== 1. Dungarvan Museum Reproduction Postcards ============================================== The reproduction postcard that the society printed at the start of the summer is selling very well. Sales now top 320. The second card in the series Grattan Square circa 1900 has just been sent to the printers and the cards will be available for sale in the museum in 6 weeks time. Thanks to all who voted to decide on the next card to be issued. For the record the voting went as follows. Grattan Square 60% The Lookout 35% Mary Street 2.5% and Parnell Street 2.5%. We weren't too surprised that Grattan Square won but we were very pleased that the Black and White photo of The Lookout proved so popular. When the third card is due to be published (hopefully in the Spring) we will organise another e-mail poll to decide the next card to be issued. ============================================== 2. Recent Donations and Events ============================================== Ivan Lennon of Rochester New York recently donated the unpublished memoirs of his father George Lennon to the museum. George was Officer Commanding West Waterford Flying Column during the Irish War Of Independence. I have spent the last week or so extracting the historical information from the memoirs (resulting in the two new articles to be seen on our web site). Dungarvan museum would like to thank Ivan for entrusting his fathers memoirs to us, I hope we have done them justice in the manner in which we have presented them on the web site. If any other individual has material in their possession that may be of historical interest please let us know. All material donated is given on permanent loan to the museum and can be reclaimed by the doner at any time. Photographs and old cine film are of particular interest. Photographs will be copied and returned to the owner. If any list member has Cine film, 16mm film etc dating from the 60's or earlier of the town or surrounding area please get in touch. Cine-cameras were rare at the time and our major hope of getting footage is from the collection of a holidaying visitor. ============================================== 3.
