My cousins find the oldest version of surname OWEN in Wales. My Owen cousins say the family was a long time in north and south Ireland. I don't know how long is long, but in a very old map of Munster I found a territory called Owenaught. As Conn stands for the founders of Connaught, does Owen also stand for the early clans who founded Munster? There is a little genealogy and a lot of history in this question. If anyone has access to Passenger and Immigration Lists: New York 1820 - 1850, I would like help looking up my G-Grandfather, Nicholas Lennon. He arrived in New York around 1850 ( I think by ship). He was born in Ireland 3 August 1836 to Thomas and Margaret Sharkey, and died in San Francisco 21 March, 1910.
Eve have you contacted Waterford Genealogy Society St Patricks Jenkins Lane Waterford City..... I think there is an email address but I do not have it to hand. Kay
Hello list, I am new to Irish research but not to genealogy. I am searching for Mary FLOUT, my 2nd great grandmother who born in 1845 in Waterford. It doesn't look very good, does it, for me finding her since this is all I have. I just read that she was born at the beginning of the Famine. It is possible that her entire family was wiped out. I will try to find out more from her marriage record. Chances are she was married in Aldershot, Hampshire, England which was a huge Army base. If Waterford is all that is listed on the records, is there anything I can do to narrow my search down somewhat? Does the list have any suggestions? Mary FLOUT married George PARKINSON and died in Lincoln, England in 1937 approximately. The name FLOUT--does this sound like an Irish name? It doesn't seem to be very common? I would appreciate any help. Thank you. Best regards, Eve Jankowicz

Found Patrick Power died 1851 Newfoundland from Bally Crodock Dunhill Parish Waterford County brothers Thomas and David sister Mary. http://ngb.chebucto.org/Wills/power-patrick.shtml
I found these on FHL film # 0100167. I am not sure where they are from. Prob. MS no. 421. or no. 483. Prob. Dublin licenses. I will try to track the source down. But the marriage licenses so far: BUCKNOR, John of Dromore Co. Waterford & Maria MAYERS also NULTON (?) Wid. 21 Jan 1632 BROWNOWES, Erasmus, Gent. of Kildare & ___ath TOTTENHAM also HANDCOCK of Ballyduff Co. Waterford 13 Dec 1632 BUGGE or BAGGE, Richard of Lismore (?) Co., Waterford, Gent. & Jane MUTTE (?) or MULLE (?) of N Midians (?) 3 Jun 1697 This is my best reading of these. The question marks indicate uncertainty. I will try to spend more time with these records later in the week. Regards, Christina North Carolina, USA
I wanted to announce that Mary Twigg from our list has offered to field the Griffith's Valuation CD lookups for the Genealogy of Co. Waterford webpage. Thanks so much Mary. I am trying to share a little more of the day to day running of the webpages I run so I have more time for transcribing and fussing with the pages themselves. Thanks again Mary. Regards, Christina North Carolina, USA
Hi there, I wondered if anyone on the list has the Griffith's CD and if so if you can take over doing lookups for the Genealogy of Waterford (IGP) website? There are only a few requests a year. If you would like to do this let me know off list. Thanks a bunch! Christina Ninah@carolina.rr.com http://www.rootsweb.com/~irlwat2/lookups.htm [Also glad to have volunteers to do lookups if you have a source available.]
