    1. [WATERFORD] "Trinity Without"
    2. Dr Con Power
    3. Dear Jann "Trinity Without" refers to this Parish being outside [without] the old walls of the City of Waterford. The name "Parish of the Most Holy Trinity Without" is used to distinguish it from the Cathedral Parish of the Most Holy Trinity, which is inside the area of the old walls of the City. Hope this helps. Regards Con Dr Con Power

    3. I am researching the Quinn and Power families. I know William Quinn married Margaret Power in Trinity Without in 1886. William's father Patrick was employed at Curraghmore House, and William was apprenticed to ride under his father for Lord John, fourth Marquis of Waterford. I am trying to trace where William's family came from, was it the Portlaw area ?? If so is this where Margaret's family originated from ? I would appreciate any information that might help. Thanks Tricia.

    1. [WATERFORD] Re: IRL-WATERFORD-D Digest V03 #45
    2. Earliest Waterford ancestors for our family are James LYNCH born about 1785 in Tallow. He married Ellen LANE of Ballyduff (Parish of Lismore) about 1811. Their daughter Anastasia LYNCH (Born 1813) Ballyduff married John CHAMBERS of Ardmore in 1836 at the Catholic Church at Macollop. John CHAMBERS must have been born about or before 1813. The Waterford Heritage Survey can find no record for him in Ardmore. There is a CHAMBERS family in the next parish of Clashmore (Records start in 1814) with the father's name Thomas. John CHAMBERS oldest son Thomas was born at Ballyduff in 1838. Many other given names of this Clashmore CHAMBERS are repeated in the family. Cannot find any records. We travel to Ireland at least once a year. Thus far have had no success with records in County Waterford for CHAMBERS. John and Anastasia LYNCH CHAMBERS emigrated in 1847 with members of the LYNCH family. 3 years later they sent for their 3 sons who were staying with grandparents in Ballyduff until their parents were settled in the USA. 1. [WATERFORD] Powers/McCarthy/Mulcahy
    2. My earliest ancestors from Waterford were Walter POWERS and Ellen McCARTHY. Walter was born about 1834 and emigrated to the United States (Alton, Illinois) sometime in the 1850s. He had a brother, John POWERS, who married in the United States and a sister, Bridget, who was married to Patrick MULCAHY. There is a possibility that Patrick and Bridget were married in Ireland. Walter married Ellen McCARTHY in Alton. Her obituary states that she was born in County Waterford about March, 1847, but since the marriage didn't occur until 1869, there is no point in searching for a place where McCarthys and Powers families are found living near eachother. Powers are EVERYwhere in county Waterford anyway. More needles in the haystack ;-) Jane Lahey

    2. Gerald Duffy
    3. My earliest Waterford ancestor was David Power, who probably started out in Islandtarsney, near Tramore, around 1790 and later married Anne Dwyer. They were the great grandparents of many, including Peg Power, who died in Waterford City in 1999 after living much of her long life (over 90 years) in Islandtarsney and Tramore. My wife and I visited Peg twice before she died. She once had a gift shop at the Cozy Corner, the Cove, in Tramore but was also involved in race tracks in the Tramore area. Peg had a very quick Irish wit! Gerry Duffy Palos Park, IL

    1. [WATERFORD] Earliest Waterford Relative
    2. Hi, My earliest Waterford City relative is James Fitzgerald, my g.g.grandfather. I don't know much about him and not sure about his wife's name. I tend to believe it was Ellen. His daughter Mary (b. 1860) married James Kinsella; these were my g.grandparents). They had at least 8 siblings one of which was my grandmother Nellie (Ellen). She was born in 1884. The rest of the children were: James, John, Margaret, William, Richard, Mary and Patrick. Most of them are probably deceased by this time but I would love to hookup w/some of their children or childrens' children. Mary

They had 10 children: John, Brigid, Mary, Patrick, Lawrence, Katherine, Thomas, Ellen, Johanna and William. John, the oldest, also my 2nd great grandfather, was the first of the family to come over about 1880. He came with his siblings Patrick, Kate and Lawrence O'Donnell. They left a red headed sister behind in Ireland. John settled in South Boston, Mass. where he married Margaret A. SHEA 01 September 1882 and raised a family. Regards, Nancy Atkinson

    2. My earliest Waterford ancestor was Edward Power who married Honora Crotty. They were born around 1812 in Waterford, exact place unknown. At least 3 children, Ellen, Mary and Philip. Honora and children came to USA after the famine, and settled near Manchester in upstate New York. Not sure what happened to Edward.
