Hi List, I am hoping someone may be able to help locate a Charles John Cleary born about 1827. The only indication I have of his where abouts of birth are his military records which state he is from Clogheen and signed on at Cashmere and parents are not stated. I would dearly love to find his parents names, siblings and correct date of birth. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Kind Regards Carole
I have updated the Parish History Book website with new books and new volunteers. http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/books/parishes.html If you have a book that is not listed, please use the convenient form at the bottom of the webpage to send me the information. If you see a book that you have and want to do volunteer lookups, also use the form. If you are listed as a volunteer and your email address has changed also use the form to let me know and I will change it when I revise the site. If you belong to the following counties' mailing lists, please feel free to pass this message on to their lists because I don't belong to them and they may not know of this website: Donegal, Londonderry, Antrim, Down, Armagh, Fermanagh, Monaghan, Sligo, Leitrim, Longford, Meath, Louth, Roscommon, Westmeath, Dublin, Kildare, Offaly, Cork, Wexford and Carlow. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com Professional Genealogy Research All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton 2002
My Great grandparents Martin Whalen and Ellen Power Whalen came from County Waterford in about 1866 or about then. AT that time they had 2 children and a brother in law, Michael Power came with them. I know Martin's parents were John and Mary Power Whalen Ellen were Richard and Helen Dunn Power. I know the date of their wedding and at least the date of the oldest child's birth. I spent $80.00 once on looking for where Martin and Ellen were born and didn't find anything. That was before I knew their wedding date and the date of their births. I am not sure what more I need to find out where they were born other than County Waterford. Can some one help me? Hi Christina.................thank you so much for the sites listed in your e-mail. I believe that I have found my g.grandfather in a couple of the directories. I do enjoy hearing from the Waterford website and I loved the recipes. Happy Thanksgiving to you also but I don't suppose you celebrate it in Ireland. Well, have a great November 27th anyway. Is there any information about Kilrossanty? Kay
Hi there, A quick update... I have just uploaded the 1824 Pigot directory pages for Cappoquin, Lismore and Kilmacthomas. I mentioned that my film had been sent back before I could struggle with the bad quality pages for Waterford City - but Joanne Connors transcribed Lismore and Kilmacthomas for our website. Thanks Joanne! These additions can be seen at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~irlwat2/ The Waterford Library also has a searchable database for Pigot's 1824 (Waterford): http://www.waterfordcountylibrary.ie/library/web/Display/article/68/ Clonmel and Carrick-on-Suir 1824 Pigot pages can be found on the County Tipperary (IGP) site if they are of interest: http://www.rootsweb.com/~irltip2/pigotndx.htm Happy Thanksgiving to our American Listers! We have had some new recipes added to our Irish Recipe Collection just in time for the holidays. http://www.rootsweb.com/~irllog/recipes/main.htm Christina
I went to my Family History Center yesterday to look again at the the hard to read names for Dungarvan in the 1824 Directory, only to find my film had been returned. I apologize for not finishing that up as I had intended. I will have to watch out for the dates my films go back. Best regards, Christina

Hi Christina. I have just started trying to find my Kennedys in Dungarvan and noticed the name of Edward Kennedy. Is Mount Kennedy an address? Would you happen to have any Kennedy baptisms or marriages in your files? Many thanks Bev. Hi to all. We have added seven articles to the museum site www.dungarvanmuseum.org this week. The large quantity of articles currently being published are a result of the Museum Scanning Project. These articles were all scanned from The Ardmore Journal which was published under the editorship of James Quain during the Eighties and early Nineties. Thanks to museum volunteers Marc Sullivan & Eileen Fraher Sullivan, Kathleen Paton and Joanne Connors Parandjuk (among others) for all of their hard work. These volunteers and others like them are members of the museum scanning project. You can find out more details about this project on the homepage of the museum web site at www.dungarvanmuseum.org. History Outreach Program ============================================== Dungarvan Museum History Outreach Program Preserve The History Of Your Town Or Village Are you interested in preserving the history of Ardmore, Ballyduff, Ballymacarbry, Bunmahon, Cappoquin, Clashmore, Clonea, Fenor, Kilbrien, Kilmacthomas, Lismore, Portlaw, Rathgormack, Stradbally, Tallow & Villierstown. Dungarvan Museum are pleased to announce the launch of their local history outreach program. This program is designed to offer people with an interest in the history of their local area an opportunity to preserve this history before it is lost for good. You dont need to be an academic to participate in this program all we are looking for in our volunteers is enthusiasm and an ability to commit a small amount of time to preserving Waterfords history. Whether your interest is in collecting old photos to be copied or in writing historical articles there is a place for you in our program. What we hope to do Initially we hope to have a contact person or persons in each village that will collect old photographs, postcards, billheads and documents for scanning by museum staff. The original document can then be either donated to the museum or returned to the owner. The electronic copy will be added to our archives preserving it for posterity. What Dungarvan Museum can offer your area. We hope to preserve the historical records of all areas in West Waterford. At the moment these records are vanishing and being destroyed on an almost daily basis. Once we have a collection of photos assembled from an area we would hope to exhibit them as part of a temporary exhibition in Dungarvan Museum. We would also hope to have a travelling exhibition visit each of the villages displaying the donations from the area. This local archive would be a valuable resource for history teachers, school children, local history researchers and the general population of the area. What the museum can offer volunteers. · Advice on conserving photographs and documents. · Repair of damaged photographs. · Assistance in transferring old cine film to video. · Online publishing of articles, photographs and documents. · Assistance and guidance in research projects. If you are interested in joining this program please contact William Whelan at 086 2748377 Email: william@deisedesign.com or leave your details into Dungarvan Museum, St. Augustine Street, Dungarvan. ============================================== 3. Museum News ============================================== The Museum's lecture season got off to a great start with Michael Smith (formerly Political Correspondent and Industrial Editor of the Guardian and Business Editor of The Observer) delivering a slide show and lecture about one of Irelands heroes, the legendary Antarctic Explorer Tom Crean. 150 people packed into Lawlor's Hotel to hear the story of Crean's adventures with Shackleton and Scott. Eddie Cantwell of Dungarvan Museum did excellent work in organising and publicising the exhibition. We recently received a booklet on the history of Tallow and film footage of Dungarvan in the 40's that we will shortly be publishing on the museum web site. The annual museum second hand book sale will be on over the weekend of the Friday 7th, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of November. It will be open during the second hand book sale commencing 7pm Friday November 7th and for some weeks after. ============================================== 4. I have updated the Parish History Books website. You can find the link on the Irish Books Discussion Mailing List website at: http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/books/ All counties are covered and many books have Lookup Volunteers. If you know of any books that are not on the list, there is a form on the website where you can enter the information. If you see a book that you have and would like to volunteer to do lookups on it, you can also use the form. In case you don't know about the parish history books, they are books printed in the area and they mostly include the history of the parish, but some actually have the Tithes Applotment and Griffith Valuation records for the area, and some have census records. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com Professional Genealogy Research All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton 2002
