    3. Have you tried searching on the internet? I found the parish I wanted in Tipperary and wrote to the current priest who wrote back to me. I think I searched for "parish in Co. Tipperary". When I went to the Waterford Heritage Center last July, it was closed - maybe just for the day, so we didn't get a chance to go in. Next trip... -----Original Message----- From: Barry & Dale Crotty [mailto:crotty@prodigy.net] Sent: Sunday, February 29, 2004 9:28 AM To: IRL-WATERFORD-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [WATERFORD] WATERFORD Does anyone have the mailing addresses for the different parishes in Waterford City and County? I'm trying to find out exactly where my great-grandfather William J. Crotty was born (possibly in February 1867). I bought a book with the parish mailing addresses in it at the welcome center when we visited Waterford last summer (2003), but now I can't find it! Barry E. 3. Mary, Thanks. I hadn't thought of that. The book I bought in Waterford just had a list of "Parishes" with addresses. Because of that I was assuming that the list was of Catholic Church Parishes in Waterford County (and the city), and that the churches maintained the records for their parish. 1. [WATERFORD] Re: Kenseller/Kinsella
    2. Honora and Maureen - Thank you. This makes a lot of sense. I didn't think to do a search of the name Kenseller in the US since my second great grandmother immigrated to England, but it seems that this version of the name is used in North America whereas in Ireland and England the name is Kinsella. There are hundreds in the IGI and some from Waterford City itself. I will inform the list when I learn anything else. Thanks again! Eve Sounds like it might be a variation on Kinsella, which certainly is Irish. She was born around 1818 somewhere in Co Kilkenny (probably in the southern part). Kinsella seems to ba a common name in southern Co. Kilkenny around that time. She married John Gaule in Mooncoin parish (bordering on Co Waterford) in 1840. They had three children. Don't know if there is any relationship. Maureen N

    1. [WATERFORD] KENSELLER
    2. Hello List - I have written before about my second great grandmother who was born in County Waterford about 1845 according to the 1881 British Census. This was basically the only information I had for her other than her first name being, of course, Mary. My grandmother said that her maiden name was FLOUT, but others on this list have written me that this surname was probably incorrect. Yesterday I learned that she was buried in Lincoln, England on 16 January 1895 at age 49. This means she was probably born in 1846. At FreeBMD there is a Mary KENSELLER who married George Henry Parkinson sometime in the first quarter of 1869. This information fits. My question: Is Kenseller an Irish name? Is there anyone on the list who has this name in their family tree? Regards, Eve Jankowicz USA

    1. [WATERFORD] Correction: Edward Forhan
    2. This is to correct a typo in my last post. Griffiths shows FORHAN, not FORAN (my error). Also note that the Griffiths index on the Waterford library site spells the name FORHAM. The question remains -- was Edward Forhan / Foran / Forham related to Nicholas Shanahan? My apologies for any confusion. Dave B. In the first Revision book (page not dated), that property was occupied by Nicholas Shanahan. He died in 1872 at age 94. The property was then passed down to several Shanahans until about 1960.
