Greetings! During my family tree research, I recently located members of my family (Hislop) living in Ireland, in County Cavan, today. In speaking to them, they revealed that as far as they know, the Hislops migrated from Scotland to Ireland during the Ulster Plantation Era. However, the earliest confirmed record we've found thus far of the Hislops in Ireland, is a James and Jean (also referred to as Hannah), in the early 1800's. I would like to find more records of other Hislops, in previous generations in Ireland, and perhaps find out where in Scotland they originated. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Even idea's on where to begin.
