Following is info I posted earlier today on the County Cavan list, but thought I should re-post to the Ulster list since it is more inclusive and my people are from across Ulster rather than one single county. McMANUS, Catharine, dau of Thomas and Catharine of Cootehill, b. abt 1830. Emigrated to Johnstown Pennsylvania area abt 1890 and died 1904 in Johnstown Pennsylvania USA. SHIELS/SHIELDS, John, son of Edward SHIELS and Mary/Bridie/Biddy KANE/KEAN of Lower Cumber, Co. Derry (I understand the "London" is silent), b. abt 1833; m. Catharine McMANUS in Lanarkshire Scotland, 1 May 1855. Died about 1872 in Scotland. Other SHIELDS children included Ann (m. LYNCH in Scotland), Thomas (d. as small child in Scotland) John (m. McGOLDRICK in US), Catharine (m. LYNCH, where?), and Edward (m. in US). McGREECHAN/McGREEHAN, William, b. abt 1862 not sure where, m. Mary Agnes SHIELDS dau of John and Catharine (above) abt 1881 in Airdrie Scotland. Emigrated to US abt 1889. MILES/MYLES, Mary, mother of William McGREECHAN; maybe spouse of John McGREECHAN (or maybe not--it appears they did not tie a very legal knot); b. in Co. Down acc to 1881 or 1891 census. No dates info on John McGreechan. Mary's other children named McGREECHAN included Jane b. abt 1866, Mary and Archibald (twins) b. 1871 (Archie died as toddler; Mary lived to adult). All these 3 born in Lanarkshire, Scotland. None emigrated to US as far as I know. WOODHEAD, Peter? m. Jane McGREECHAN abt ?, at least one son, William. Lived in Scotland. Did not emigrate as far as I know. PERRY, Francis, b. ?, died abt 1906, British Army, m. Agnes MORGAN?, lived in Ballynanny, Clonduff, Hilltown, Co. Down. Children included Martha (died as toddler), Francis b. abt 1861, Sarah (m. a COBURN), William, Ellen (fibbed a lot about her age), Elizabeth (b. 1881).
