Republic of Ireland search: http://159.134.203.172/search.asp?source=GP Northern Ireland search: http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publisha.content/en/find/residential/residential_numbers.publisha?namespace=coexistence The Northern Ireland directory requires a surname and a town or postcode to perform a search. If you do not know a specific town for your surname of interest, or if you want to search an entire county or region for your surname, the list of postcodes I compiled can help (to see the list, click the link after "In reply to" above) There are two parts to a postcode, a typical postcode is BT62 2HJ. You only need to enter the first part to search the directory. All postcodes in Northern Ireland start with BT, and the range seems to be BT1 to BT94. For example, if you were searching for Orr from County Armagh, you could enter Orr for surname, and then BT60 which is the first code I list for County Armagh, and perform a search.You can then repeat this with BT61-BT68 to find Orrs in the rest of the county, or until you find the Orr family you are looking for (perhaps you will recognize a particular given name, or a village in the address, or perhaps you are interested in all Orrs from this county. (You may also wish to search the Newry area in the Down/Armagh border, which would be BT34 and BT35). There may be more efficient ways of searching, please let me know about them. If you enter all codes from BT1-BT94 you will get a good idea of the distribution of a surname in present-day Northern Ireland.
