Robert was said to have been born in 1749. Robert and perhaps John were said to have been born in Northern Ireland from Scottish stock. Robert was said to have arrived in the US early enough to have fought in the Revolutionary War (1776). Thought to have been in Pennsylvania. John may or may not have been born in Ireland but Pa. is more likely. Trying to sort myth from reality. The names Donegal and Londonderry pop up but then there place names in Pa. that are the same.
