Their dates are 1771-1825 and 1771-1856 respectively and I have details of one son, Thomas McIlroy, who married Elizabeth McMullan in 1846 and who died in 1898. I also have details of most of their descendants after that. However, when I first started researching the McIlroys, my aunt, a keen family historian, told me that 2 McIlroy brothers came to Cullybackey, County Antrim from Scotland and that one of these settled in Dreen, Cullybackey. This is the brother, presumably John, from whom my family is descended. What I would be interested in finding is details of the other brother and also if John had any other children besides Thomas. My husband's aunt married a McIlroy from another family and this family were indeed good friends of my mother and her siblings. There is a strong family resemblance between these other McIlroys and mine, but I have not been able to find a link to them. This is why I want to see if I can find out more about John and his brother. Know what I mean? Looking forward to hearing from anyone with any inkling.
