I suspect if there is a total lack of corroborating evidence of the relationship to George McCombs, we will have to take the Grandson's oral history word for it. He should have known who his grandparents were. Although, Abraham Lincoln addressed this issue by saying he didn't know who his grandparents were, and was only concerned who their grandson would turn out to be. This seems like a good perspective to adhere to. But, I am a stickler for details, too, and won't rest until I can find some proofs. Good hunting! THE CLAN! AYE!
