I am descended from Frederick Highsaw b. about 1750. His last name has been recored as Hisaw and Hysaw as well. My feeling is that he or his imediate ancestors were possibly Ulster Scots but I have been unable to prove or disprove this theory. The earliest official document in the U.S. is a 1773 document from Virginia where he sold hemp. In about 1780 he migrated to Burke county North Carolina where he died about 1820. Any assistance to find out where this family was prior to the American Colonys is greatly appreciated. Robert Negelein Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
