Maybe a Cornelius who might have been born in Ulster ca. 1610 and might have been a child of parents who fled/were forced to leave Scotland. Or a William (m Anne Fisher in MD), who would have been transported from Ireland to the new colonies mid-1600s. Our "Canaday Zero" might be English, Irish, Scottish or.... That is our dilemma. My Canaday line has remained true to the Canaday spelling, although earlier spellings in the United Kingdom might have been closer to the Gaelic spelling.
