Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DYC.2ACE/2901 Message Board Post: I've been looking thru the microfilms of the birth indexes for every year starting in 1864. All of that time, the records were listed by Superintendent Registrar's District which is equivalent to Poor Law Union. Examples are Omagh, Clogher, Belfast, Newry, Armagh, Dungannon etc. Starting in the December quarter of 1956, a new set of placenames appear in the index. They seem to be more specific: "St. George's No. 2", "Castlereagh No. 1", "Omagh 1" Does anyone know what areas are included in the new districts? I am mostly interested in Clogher and Omagh PLUs--what are they called after 1956? Marriage records were still indexed under the old system through the end of 1959. I haven't looked at the death indexes yet. Bernie

Our family is looking for information for Patrick Linn who was born 1753 (possibly 30 Jun) supposedly in Ireland. Patrick and a brother, William, were said to have sailed to the colonies between 1770 and 1774. Both enlisted in the American Revolutionary War (Patrick in 1776) in the 4th/5th Pennsylvania Line. Patrick later lived in South Carolina where a son, William, was born, then moved to Limestone, Bourbon Co., Virgina (that part of the state was later changed to Kentucky). From there, Patrick moved to Indiana where he died in 1829. It's rumored that Patrick's family in Ireland was in the shipping business and his family disowned him because of the woman he married (Mary). We would really like to find our Patrick's home. He may have been Scotch-Irish. Thank you for any help you may be able to offer.

Even though the births were recorded in Irvinestown, the parents may not have necessarily lived in Irvinestown itself, but in a nearby townland. Each of the indexes comes with a Latter Day Saints microfilm source. The films can be ordered from your local Family History Center. The indexes follow: HUMPHRIES, Ann Birth Gender: Female Birth Date: 23 Sep 1870 Birthplace: 169, Irvinestown No 1, Ferm, Ire Recorded in: Fermanagh, Ireland Collection: Civil Registration Father: John HUMPHRIES Mother: Ann GRAHAM Source: FHL Film 101211 Dates: 1870 - 1872 ______ HUMPHRYS, Alexander Birth Gender: Male Birth Date: 23 May 1870 Birthplace: Irvinestown No 1, Ferm, Ire Recorded in: Fermanagh, Ireland Collection: Civil Registration Mother: Catherine HUMPHRYS Source: FHL Film 101206 Dates: 1870 - 1872 ______ HUMPHRYS, Mary Birth Gender: Female Birth Date: 1 Mar 1871 Birthplace: 191, Irvinestown No 1, Ferm, Ire Recorded in: Fermanagh, Ireland Collection: Civil Registration Father: Edward HUMPHRYS Mother: Elizabeth BIRNEY Source: FHL Film 255811 Dates: 1871 - 1872 ______ HUMPHRYS, Thomas Birth Gender: Male Birth Date: 23 Jun 1871 Birthplace: 165, Irvinestownnoi, Ferm, Ire Recorded in: Fermanagh, Ireland Collection: Civil Registration Father: Thomas HUMPHRYS Mother: Jane ARMSTRONG Source: FHL Film 255826 Dates: 1871 - 1872 ______ HUMPHRYS, William Birth Gender: Male Birth Date: 6 Jun 1873 Birthplace: Irvinestown, No 1, Ferm, Ire Recorded in: Fermanagh, Ireland Collection: Civil Registration Mother: Catherine Humphrys Source: FHL Film 255876 Dates: 1873 - 1874 ______ I also found several entries for Humphreys in Irvinestown at the free Latter Day Saints International Genealogical Index at the following website: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true Once at the above site, just type in the last name Humphreys, select British Isles in the "Region" drop down box, then select Ireland in the Country drop down box, and finally select Fermanagh in the county drop down box.
