I was in touch with another branch of the family in another part of the country, and he is also of the opinion that we have the correct family. Hugh and Agnes's son John came to Australia in 1858, and married a woman by the name of Janet Alexander who was born in Aberdeen scotland. They married in 1863. Her father was John Alexander a shoemaker. and her mothers, name was |Jane Leslie. They had nine children. married in Queensland nad lived in and died in Melbourne. a son and daughter from the Montgomery's married into the Delaney family. There is a long story about how we became Delaney,s but that is another day. The family spread over the Eastern Etates of Australia. If you want information and pictures of some of them I would be only to happy to share info. I have a copy of a letter that John's daughter Eleanor sent to her brother.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DYC.2ACE/2904 Message Board Post: I hope I haven't come to the end of the research into my Family Tree but I can't seem to find much on them or even confirm for sure that they came from Ireland, but the Family Legends & Census Records do say Ireland. My Great-Great Great Grandfather, Thomas Rutledge married Jane Thomson (Thompson) who was suppose to be the cousin of Lord Kelvin. They had my Great-Great Grandfather Robert Rutledge who married Ellen Elliot (daughter of Robert Elliott and Elizabeth Graham). They all apparently moved to Canada sometime before 1851 because I have the Elliott Family on that Census. Does anyone know how I can find out birthdates, etc and confirm that they did really come from Ireland?

Surnames: MARTIN/HEADY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DYC.2ACE/2903 Message Board Post: Hello! I need to take a 'shot in the dark' with MARTIN researchers in Ulster, IRE to see if I can FINALLY "connect" my 3x GreatGrandfather to his predecessors. My Father (a MARTIN) took the Family Tree DNA test; and we have a genetic connection to MARTIN's in Ulster, IRE (somehow!!!) The earliest documented proof i have on my MARTIN line is as follows: ABRAHAM MARTIN born Sept. 1797 (said to be SC); died July, 1852 Wayne Co, IL. Married MARY JANE ("POLLY") HEADY (most probably 1823/24; place unknown). 10 children: 1) JEPTHA MARTIN born 1825 2) EMILY MARTIN born 1828 3) PRUDENCE JANE MARTIN born 1829 4) JAMES C. MARTIN born 1831 5) GEORGE MARTIN born 1835 6) ELEY AZER MARTIN born 1838 7) ABRAHAM H. MARTIN born 1840 8) MARY MARTIN (twin) born 1842 9) MANERVA VIRGINIA MARTIN (twin) born 1842 10) MARGARET (or MARTHA?) MARTIN born 1845 I have no other info/clues/ideas on how to connect my ABRAHAM MARTIN with his relstives in Ulster, IRE....................other than that there was a ROBERT MARTIN living "next door" in White Co, IL in 1827 who married a NANCY HEADY. (Could they have been brothers/cousins?? CAN NOT CONNECT THEM!!!) ANY clues/ideas/info would be SOOOO appreciated!!! been searching for 10 years now.......... Please e-mail: elhzm@comcast.net THANK YOU! Laura

I have a fair amount of information about other members of the family - particularly their son Henry, also clothier (family business presumably) whose son was Henry, quite a famous evangelist of his time.
