They are a hard line to trace, as there were just so many of them and all with the given names of John, Williams, etc etc. I am of the Dickey line and would love to see what information you might have on them. Thank you, Debbie

Are you in Australia? I descend from John's brother Robert who ended up in Missouri USA and had a couple of little banks. Have been trying to go further back than Hugh, their father, and John, his father (b. 1760) but there is a lot of difficulty in Ireland with records missing etc. The Ulster Historical Society is working on it. They had sent me some material about the descendants of Hugh - some of whom were quite notable in Ireland, and I have several pages but I'd have to get someone to scan them. You can contact me at monteng@crocker.com. if you wish. Hope the health issues are clearing up. I have become a caretaker during the past two years and thank heaven for genealogy and the computer!
Wed--no, I think the village I want is Ballynagilly in County Tyrone. And thanks to Shirley, I now have a more precise idea where it is. But, thanks for your interest. Hi Barb; This could possibly be Ballynacally Beg or Ballynacally More, but they are in Londonderry County. I have started putting on my website, births 1865-1875 for all of County Down, more names will be added tomorrow, as the website search engine only picks up new material every Monday, there is a link on the index page of the website "Co. Down births 1865-1875" where the start of this project can be viewed, these names of births will be updated every day. And the best of luck in your research. I'm trying to find information on the village of Ballynagilly in Tyrone County. I believe my gggggrandfather emigrated from there to Canada, probably around 1800. The village doesn't show up on most maps, but I have found it on a couple. It appears to be in Lissan Parish. Does anyone know if this is still a viable village today, with post office? Thanks for any help. Barb Yirka

The article lists many Ulster family names and the item is worth looking at even if only for this article. The article gives an insight to the McCorkell shipping company, the ships crew and rations. Furthermore there is an extract from the McCorkell order book of William McCorkell for passengers to America. I believe your aunt Margaret VALLELY (if I have the relations correct) was a "cousin" of my maternal grandmothers (Mildred [ZSCHAU] O'DONNELL of Quincy, Mass.). Margaret VALLELY never married did she? Was she employed as a housekeeper for the priests at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Quincy, Mass? My mom recalls as a child visiting her mother's "cousin" Margaret in a nursing home. She thinks Margaret had rheumatoid arthritis from early in life. She most likely never married; she died in 1974 while in a Braintree or Weymouth, Mass. nursing home. Does that sound correct? If you're interested, I would enjoy discussing this further off-line. Hope to hear from you soon. Best Regards, Nancy
