    3. Hello Eireann, My great grandparents were Thomas John Shannon who married Mary Blake. Both families were from Cty.Cavan. My grandfather, John Shannon, Cty Cavan married Catherine Keogh Cty.Wicklow in Sydney in 1867 at St.Mary,s Cathedral. Sy This John Shannon and his brother Robert are the only children of Thomas and Mary which I could find. John was born in Cty.Cavan about 1835 and Robert in Cty Cavan in 1852. He married Kate McGovern, also from Cty.Cavan in Sydney 1882. I have not been able to go back in Ireland re the Shannon family and any help you can give me would be most appreciated. 3. Hi Eirann, Many Presbyterian Churches did not have burial grounds attached or nearby, so burial records tend to be sparse. Baptisms & marriages should be available, but it depends on what was recorded by the minister & what survived. Church of Ireland registers should have all 3, but the burial information is usually limited. Again how far back these records go depends on what has survived. If you have access to a LDS Family History Centre, they can order microfilms for you (the m'films held in PRONI are mostly copies of LDS films). Although not in the area you are researching, Derryloran CoI (Cookstown, Co. Tyrone) records are available online at http://www.derryloran.com - click on Parish Registers (records are in PDF format & may take a little time to load). These will give you an idea of what CoI records are like. For the history buffs out there, some of the early records involve English & Scottish regiments stationed in the Cookstown area in the late 1700s/early 1800s e.g. the Tay Fencibles. Hope this is useful, Eddie Ulster3 <ulster3@gmail.com> wrote: Hello listers, I am trying to locate more information on two of my Antrim Co. families. 3. Burial records unlikely as most of our churches are very bad at keeping burial records. Marriage recores and baptismal records will be available for the dates which PRONI mention. The records are usually microfiche copies of the original register which means that they are in the order in which they happened without index etc. it would therefore be necessary to sit down and go through them page by page unless you know the years/months that you are looking for Ella Ella Patterson Cataloguer Cataloguing Department Main Library Resources Management Division The Queen's University of Belfast University Square Belfast BT7 1LS Northern Ireland Tele: +44 28 90973639 Email: e.patterson@qub.ac.uk -----Original Message----- From: irl-ulster-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-ulster-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Ulster3 Sent: 28 February 2007 04:21 To: IRL-ULSTER@rootsweb.com Subject: [IRL-ULSTER] PRONI research Hello listers, I am trying to locate more information on two of my Antrim Co. families.
