    3. I have a McGuire, however, she did not live in Geelong. My 3grgrandmother, Anne or Anna McGuire, from county Tyrone, not sure of the parish or townland at this point, married a Bernard SHORT in Tyrone. (Possible county: Arboe, possible townland: Kinrush). They had John SHORT in 1829, no confirmation on the siblings yet. They immigrated to Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Their son, John, went on to immigrate to the United States, settling in Brockport, Monroe County, New York. Don't know if this helps, but, I thought I would put it out there for other researchers who may also be looking at McGuire. Good luck in your search. 1. [IRL-ULSTER] BLAIRS in County Antrim 1700s
    2. I know my 5GG to have been Thomas Blair born 1725 in County Antrim, the son of Adam Blair - a merchant of Ballymoney. Thomas came to the colonies with Gen. Braddock's army and remained in the York, Pa. area. I am now searching for his family left in Antrim. I think Adam's father to have been John Blair of Lemnalary or Lemnaharry and Ahoghill. Bits I do know are that Adam Blair died in 1770, his wife (name unknown) died 1775. thomas had a brother Adam who was a Presbyterian minister who is buried in Lisburn. The Rev. Adam and an older brother, John, wre sent to the University of Glasgow. Will appreciate any information and have much to share of Thomas' family in America. Betty Blair McCollom

He was born in Aug. 1815 in Belfast. He died on 1 Nov. 1884 in Bristol, Quebec, Canada. I am also searching for information on his wife, my great x3 grandmother, Jane Telford. She was also born in Belfast, in Dec. 1819, and also died in Bristol, Quebec, on 12 June 1900. I do not know if William and Jane knew each other in Ireland or not, nor when they crossed the Atlantic, nor if they crossed together. They were married on either the 24th or 30th of July, 1847, in Shawville, Quebec, Canada. They had seven children, of which the fourth, John (17 Mar 1853- 26 Nov 1919), is my ancestor. I have no information concerning the parentage of either William McCorriton or Jane Telford. If anyone can provide any leads or information, I would be truly grateful. I have very little information to offer, but am posting in hopes that someone may have knowledge of he and his family. I have read that many of the Greggs were of Scotch-Irish descent and lived in Ulster, County Antrim. Unfortunately, I have no DOB, place of birth, date or port of departure/entry to US. We only have my GGG-grandmother's statement that he was born in Ireland.(per Family Bible) His history with my family begins with the birth of his son, James, Jr DOB: 11-13-1790,DOD: 10-02-1827; married to Catherine Holm; He was married to Elizabeth (?)surname unknown DOD:12-2-1821, who was born in Pennsylvania. They had 3 other children: Mary "Polly" Gregg (my GGG-grandmother DOB: 1-1-1803, married to Bannister Pool), Samuel, and John. All born in Pennsylvania. We have his immediate family information, but nothing of his parents or siblings. If anyone has run across this James Gregg line or has any suggestions on places to begin searching, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks. 1. [IRL-ULSTER] British (Scottish) military in County Down 1700-1800's ???
    2. Mike Kennedy
    3. Greetings All: I have seen some references to British military units in County Down at different times to quell rebellions, etc. Is there any place online where I could find details of those instances? (Dates, units, locations?) I am especially interested in the area of Killyleagh in the late 1700's. One British military was supposed to have left Killyleagh sometime just before 1794-6. Does anyone have information on the unit name or roster? Once I find out the military units and dates, I would like to find out information about that military unit. Were they Scottish units ( since military units in Scotland would closest to Irish rebellions in the north)? Are their any records available naming names of soldiers or officers? Are there any records of soldiers from those units retiring in the areas in which they served? Where would I look for this type of military and Genealogical records? Any help would be appreciated.
