    1. [ULSTER] SEYMOUR, Henry 1789-1867
    2. Mac
    3. Dear List, We are looking for the needle in the haystack. We posted this to a couple of other NI lists as well. We have a Henry SEYMOUR and his wife Sarah (possibly children: William, Joseph, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Henry Jr.) who came from Ireland to Canada about the 1850s. We don't know where in Ireland except that several traditions place them in Northern Ireland. Antrim seems to be the place that surfaces most often as a possible location but it is not the only one. Henry SR may have worked with horses for a livelyhood. The surnames of McCOY, GIBSON, and SOLAN may be linked as well. Does any kind soul have any idea what we can do to track this family down in Ireland? ===== RESEARCHING: southern Ontario: Clarkson, Seymour, Sinclair. Shetlands: Halcrow, Leask, Ross, Smith, Sinclair. England (Lanca, WR Yorks): Billington, Clarkson. England (Mddlsx, Herts): Ambridge, Hall. England (Surrey) Boxall. Ireland: Gibson/Gipson, McKoy, Seymour __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Sports - live college hoops coverage http://sports.yahoo.com/

    1. [ULSTER] Hislops from Scotland to Ireland.
    2. Jean
    3. Greetings! During my family tree research, I recently located members of my family (Hislop) living in Ireland, in County Cavan, today. In speaking to them, they revealed that as far as they know, the Hislops migrated from Scotland to Ireland during the Ulster Plantation Era. However, the earliest confirmed record we've found thus far of the Hislops in Ireland, is a James and Jean (also referred to as Hannah), in the early 1800's. I would like to find more records of other Hislops, in previous generations in Ireland, and perhaps find out where in Scotland they originated. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Even idea's on where to begin.

My ggg grandfather Laurance had 6 brothers and sisters (this is pieced from a letter from one of Patrick and Laurance's brother's, John, from Ireland to Laurance in the City of Westchester, New York; dated May 29, 1938) From an 1871 census, I have figured that Laurance was born in 1811. My grandmother, who has passed away, had worked on our family tree. The letter from Ireland does say that "We have not heard one work from the McCanns this 2 years, but one simple word from Patrick and then he was a mind to come home. They being so far from you, it is not likely that you would no much about them."

    3. Am aware of an old neighbor lady of mine whose name was Mina STEELE, born between 1900 and 1905 in County Antrim, who came to Newburgh, NY probably before 1910, and married a man named Gee in the mid-1920's in Orange County, NY. She died last year at a very advanced age, but has a surviving son, Robert Gee (now living in Florida), and a daughter, Valerie Gee Buckley (still living in Newburgh). If you think there might be a connection, I can put you in touch with either of them. Am personally looking for links to WISEMANs, who were thriving in Ballywatermoy Townland, Ahoghill Parish, near the town of Cullybackey, in the year 1810 or so. My ancestor, ARCHIBALD WISEMAN, emigrated from there to Orange County in about 1835. Seeking info on his parents, ?(possibly James) WISEMAN and MARGARET DUNLAP. So far I can verify only 2 sisters, Ann and Margaret, and their parents, William and Mary. My ancestor, Ann Ormsby Corcoran, was born in Sligo 1823 (this from her tombstone) lived in Philadelphia and had no known children. Margaret Ormsby Tucker lived in Rochester, New York and New York City. She had one son with her first husband, was widowed around 1865, remarried, had other children, and lived in New York City. I would love to find the name of Margaret's second husband.
