Is there any place, Dear Friends, I may look which would possibly chronicle his passing and the place of his internment? Or would it, in all likelihood, have been quietly in a potter's field unnoticed by anyone but family? For several generations, despite hundreds of descendants, no one apparently spoke, or left a written record, of his final resting place. Thanks much. Mike Morrissey in Fargo ND
Hello Mike. I think it's more likely that he was buried in a Catholic cemetery near where they were living at that time. Do you have any idea where that might have been? I'm wondering if Ellen remained in NY after his death, or did she move somewhere else. You've probably already checked where she's buried, if you know where that is. I checked some newspapers from that time frame, but nothing turned up. You could try searching the Brooklyn newspapers for that time period. Or if known where exactly in NYC are look at the nearby parishes. If he was catholic I would look first in calvary cemetery in woodside, queens new york. It is a huge old place where most roman catholics were buried Just google calvary cemetery queens new york and find the address and phone number of the office of the cemetery. Call them and ask about your relatives. They are pretty helpful. You may need a date of death. There are ways to search the new york city municipal archives for death certificates as long as you have any approximate date. You may have to send a letter but start with a phone call to calvary. -----Original message----- From: Patrick Pollard <pjpoll@charter.net> To: "irl-tipperary@rootsweb.com" <irl-tipperary@rootsweb.com> Cc: "<irl-tipperary@rootsweb.com>" <irl-tipperary@rootsweb.com> Sent: Mon, Jun 4, 2012 22:11:04 EDT Subject: Re: [IRL-TIP] Tim Morrissey, Place of Death/Burial You could try searching the Brooklyn newspapers for that time period.
