    3. The family of William James Carew of Thurles, Tipperary also landed for awhile in Patterson , before heading out to Outagamie, Wisconsin, then some members later onto Illinois. You can see them in the census for 1850 in Patterson. Williams James was a member of the British Army in the 98th foot regiment from 1804-1818, recruited from Thurles with many other Tipperary residents. There is a ships record on Ancestry of a James immigrating in 1850. Another brother had son George Carew who fought for the 20th Illinois, who at Sherman's side did all the damage to us southerners at Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia; a ferocious decisive battle in the Civil War. The Carew family still has Wisconsin and Illinois ties. Jean
