I am forwarding a transcribe of a letter received on another mailing list, as it was written from Tipperary. It was an application to join the assisted emigration scheme to South Africa in 1820. Many such letters were sent by persons who then never emigrated to South Africa and therefore their descendants would never realise to look at these documents.
