I am new to the Tipperary mailing list and am wondering if someone tell me how to go about my search for my Maher / Meagher and Tracy / Treacy ancestors from Mullinahone, Tipperary. I want to find the ancestors of my great-grandparents James Maher (Meagher) and Mararet Tracey (Treacy) . Is there an on-line data base that I can access? Or can I write for a copy of the marriage certificate? I have a document from the 1950's that my Aunt obtained from Michael Holloway, Parish Priest in Oakfield, Mullinahone, Thurles, County Tipperary (July 1952). This shows my ancestors as follows from the "registers of Mullinahone": Marriage Register: James Maher married Margaret Tracey at Mullinahone, February 12, 1861. Present: James Maher, Mary Treacy, James Crotty. Children of James Maher and Margaret Tracey from Baptism Registers: Feb 18 1865 James and Anne (twins) died young as names were used again Jan 28 1866 William (did not marry and is many years dead) Dec 1 1867 James (married Elizabeth Broderick at Parish Church Callen 1911 of Rev. P. Corrigan (I have information on the Broderick sisters, including married names and addresses from 1952). Feb 14 1869 Anne (Sponsors Daniel Meagher and Catherine McGrath ((The baptizing priest's initials follow "T.H." and the address of parents "Mullinahone". This is the baptizing entry of my grandmother.) Rumor has it that my grandmother was born "on the night of the big wind". Anne emigrated to the United States and married and raised her family there. Apr 21 1872 George.same parents. Died in infancy. ? Edward ( didn't marry) (Priest did not see him readily in the records) Thanks in advance for any suggestions about where to start. David Haskett married Mary Finucane in 1812 in County Clare and then moved to County Tipperary. They had several children but I have never been able to find baptisms for them. David remarried Johanna Commons in 1845 and had six more children all whose baptisms I have found. Any help would be appreciated. A Mr. Finucane was school master for a number of years at the Ray School, County Donegal near Letterkenny. Believe he is buried in the Ray Cemetery.
