Charles Hickey was born circa 1860 near Clonmel Co Tipperary. As far as I can establish he went to the US quite young and managed to obtain a University education, possibly at the University of Kansas. He later entered the foreign service where he served in posts in Europe and the, then, Ottoman Empire. He met his future wife, 20 years his junior in Paris and they married about 1900. The family returned to Kansas City just before the outbreak of the First World War and Elizabeth became active in Feminist and Civil Rights movements. They seem to have had four children, the eldest of which died in infancy. Their daughter, Margaret, became very well known but I can find no additional information on Charles and Elizabeth. I would love to get some more leads, and perhaps some of the more experienced researches on the list, might have some ideas.
