Hi, Gill! This is probably a real shot in the dark: I have a book of baptisms and marriages that took place in the tiny town of Somonauk, Illinois, USA. In it is listed a John Butler who had a baby name Martin. His wife's name was Joan ( I think) Hollohan. the baby was born in 1875. I also have Butler in my ancestry ---- A Bridget Butler married my great uncle Patrick Rochford and they settled in Illinois. Good luck. Mary
Hi Mary Thanks for your information. Martin and Margaret were in Canada, Montreal, in the late 1850's early 60's, two of their children were born there, but came back to England. I have found them in the 1871 census and 1881 census in Manchester and they give their place of birth as Tipperary, Ireland in the 1871 return.
