My Ancestor was John Ryan born in 1743 in Knockjack, Glenough, Rossmore. and his wife was Catherine Corbett born 1750. John Ryan and Catherine Corbett had children called John, Jeremiah and Patrick that we are sure of, also probably had two girls called Bridget and Ellen. All of these were born before 1797. Their son Jeremiah married Catherine Hogan round 1814. There is no record of Jeremiah and Catherines marriage in Rossmore so presume Catherine came from another Parish. Children of Jeremiah and Catherine. All baptized in Rossmore. Cate Ryan born 13/8/1824 Sponsors John Dwyer and Nelly Horan. William Ryan born 7/7/1826 Sponsors Patrick White and Mary Hogan. Michael Ryan born 5/10/1827 Sponsors William Hogan and Bridget Hogan William Ryan born 18/1/1829 Sponsors Daniel Hogan and Mary Alice....... (May be Allis) Jeremiah Ryan born 23/10/1831 Sponsors John Horan and Mary White. Catherine Ryan born 28/12/1834 Sponsors Norry Horan and Patk. Ryan. Catherine Hogan's siblings were probably Mary, William, Bridget and Daniel. Jeremiah's siblings were John and Patrick, and probably Bridget and Ellen. The only ones of Jeremiah and Catherine's children that I have any info on, is Jeremiah born 20/3/1831, who married Margaret Ryan of Reagoulawn and owned Jerry Jacks Pub in Graffan, Anacarthy. Patrick born 30/1/1820 who married Bridget Kennedy from Foilacleara, near Doon. Co. Limerick. William 18/1/1829 who married a Widow called Feehan from Rathcannon, Holycross. This Ryan family were known as Ryan (John). but were always known as Ryan (Jack). Would like to find out where Catherine Corbett or Catherine Hogan came from.
