Here is what I know: Michael Powers (AKA Patrick) was born in Ireland about 1810 and died after 1860 in Wisconsin. They lived near Cooperstown in Wisconsin. He married Ellen Hally baptized in Aughvanlomaun Townland, Newcastle Parish Co Tipperary Ireland on 23 Oct 1816. Her parents are Michael Hally b abt 1797 (Newcastle) and Catherine English born abt 1799 (Grange). Michael and Ellen married before 1839. Michael and Ellen had 4 children born in Ireland, Patrick abt 1839, Edward abt 1840, Catherine abt 1843 and John born 24 June 1844. They had a daughter Bridget who was born in NY abt 1851 and another daughter Ellen born abt 1857 in Wisconsin. Most of these dates are according to census records I have found. I have no other information on their sons Patrick and Edward at this time. Catherine married Dennis Scanlan in Wisconsin. John was born in Mt Melleray, Waterford County and died 9 Aug 1938 in Milwaukee, WI. On 27 Dec 1872 John married Ellen Cody in Neenah, Winnebago County, WI. Bridget married John Campbell in Wisconsin Ellen married Hugh Kerrigan in Wisconsin. I have been to Mt Melleray Abbey and have been told that the Powers family gave their land to the Abbey, but can continue to live on the land to this day. I do not have documentation on this yet, but I still am in communication with the Abbey regarding this. I am looking for information on Michael Powers and perhaps he was born in Waterford and not Tipperary. Also any of their children who were born in Ireland.
