    3. Read First: It is time for our January Roll Call If you have never seen a Roll Call - this is where everyone tells who they are searching for all at once. Please send in your Names and some identifying info like dates and places (if you know them). ***Please put your names in the SUBJECT line of the email so people know what emails to look at. Do this before you write the message body because it is easy to forget to go back and fix the Subject line.*** This is also important for people reading the archives in the future. Be patient with the added mail that will come your way. It will slow down in a couple of days and be normal by the next weekend. If you can help someone please do. You can reply to the emails on the list, BUT when you get down to saying "Thanks" it is better to send those PRIVATELY to save people's email space. You may have to copy/paste their email addy or type it to avoid the "Thank you" going to the whole list. Have fun! Christina Listowner

    3. HOLMES - Mary Augusta HOLMES, alias POSTIE, lived in Summerhill, Nenagh, Tipperary c. 1844-1900, She died in Cornwall, England (Mevagissey) in 1903. Mary Augusta HOLMES married John Hamilton DUNDAS or John HAMILTON-DUNDAS in Dublin in 1844. She was probably his second wife. John was born in Abercorn, West Lothian, Scotland, in 1805. John was a Captain in the Royal Scots and then, commencing in 1841, a Major in the 85th Foot. He died in 1867 in Summerhill, Neneagh, Tipperary. A possible son of John Hamilton DUNDAS is John Henry Hamilton DUNDAS (known as Henry) who claims to have born in Tipperary, Ireland (c. 1823). It is unlikely that Henry's mother was Mary Augusta HOLMES; given the dates, Mary Augusta was likely his step-mother. On the other hand, one never can be certain. (John) Henry DUNDAS served in the 52nd Foot until he was promoted to Asst. Surgeon in the 67th Foot. He served in India and retired to Tasmania, Australia, where he died in 1894. Looking for any HOLMES or POSTIE descendant who may have additional information regarding Mary Augusta HOLMES, alias POSTIE. Was she originally from Nenagh, Tipperary? Did she have children with John Hamilton DUNDAS? Also, attempting to determine if John Hamilton DUNDAS had a first wife who may have died in Tipperary. Any assistance or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. 1. [TIP] ROLL CALL <Massy & Armstrong>
    2. Carrie & Shawn Gibbons-Patterson
    3. Looking for clue regarding my 4th Great Grandparents: Robert Armstrong (born about 1806 in Ireland), married to Frances Ann ? (born about 1816 in Ireland, died in Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada). Frances' headstone has an interesting connection to Tipperary: In memory of Frances Ann, beloved wife of Robert Armstrong died April 19, 1894 Granddaughter of Sir Francis Hugh Massey of Castle Suir, Queen's [should read Tipperary] County, Ireland My challenge is nailing down Frances' parents which seem likely to be one of two couples: Anne Bomford Massy married to John Henry St. George Whitty; or Jane Adelaide Massy married to Austin Damer Cooper. The former seems much more likely as the latter was burried at Golden (Thanks to Joan Keogh for that gem!) Thanks so much for any help you can offer! 1. Re: [TIP] ROLL CALL Brien / O'Brien / Bryan / Crowley
    2. Looking for information on Denis Brien / Bryan / O'Brien who married Mary Crowley approx: 1835 - 1840. Mary Crowley may have been from Cork. Denis and Mary are reported to have had 13 children, we have only found the names of the following so far: Edward b. 1838, John Thomas b. 1839/40, Patrick b. 1841, Sarah b. 1843, Cornelius b. 1843, Thomas b. 1845, Ann and 1 other female name unknown. John Thomas Brien, (my gg grandfather) son of Denis and Mary travelled to Australia in 1864. Info passed down through the family say he left Ireland for Canada with his brother Cornelius and his sister Ann. Cornelius and John continued on to Australia while their sister Ann stayed in Canada. They both settled in the New England area of New South Wales. John Thomas Briens death certificate lists Denis Brien and Mary Crowley as his parents. He also lists his birthplace as Cashel, Tipperary. The Tipperary Emigrants Index lists John Brien departing Ireland 1864, and names his parents as Denis and Mary of Knockavilla. They were a roman catholic family. John Thomas married Margaret Mulcahy in Australia in 1868 and had the following children: Denis, Cornelius, Micheal, Martin, John, Thomas, William, Joseph, Daniel, Edmond, Francis, Mary A, David. Would love to know more of Denis and Mary, brothers and sisters of John Thomas Brien / O'Brien, ecspecially Ann in Canada. Have been told the family was Brien/Bryan in Ireland and the "O" was added when they came to Australia. Thank you Michele Darwin NT Australia

    3. --Looking for my grandfather's family - His name was Michael Stanley Patrick Lanigan b.1873 Tipperary/Kilkenny. His father's name was James LANIGAN. (Info from marriage cert.) Apparently his parents died when he was young so he was brought up by "Aunts". This is all I know! I can't find his birth at the register office so I don't know where to start with the parishes. Michael worked in the North of Ireland for a few years before he moved to Scotland and then England at the start of the great war in 1914. If this rings any bells with anyone that will be a miracle! 3. Looking for John Stephen Heenan, born in Co. Tipp either 1828 or 1829 -- or possibly 1823. The latter is probably from a misreading of the number. He is the son of John and Mary Heenan. He married Mary Conway (Co. Clare) in Outagamie Co., Wisconsin, USA about 1850. Location in Ireland is probably in North Tipperary -- possibly Roscrea area. and Timothy Heenan, born in Co. Tipp in 1818 and married Mary Maroney in 1848 in Co. Tipperary. Also emigrated to Outagamie County, Wisconsin, USA. I do not know if the two are related in any way.
